Restart Autonomous AI Database

Describes the steps to restart an Autonomous AI Database instance.

Perform the following prerequisite steps as necessary:

• Open the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console by clicking the next to Cloud.

• From the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure left navigation menu click Oracle Database and then click Autonomous AI Database.

• On the Autonomous AI Databases page select an Autonomous AI Database from the links under the Display name column.

To restart Autonomous AI Database:

1. On the More actions drop-down menu, select Restart.
   This shows the Confirm restart dialog.
2. From the confirmation dialog, choose an option to restart the database:

   • Restart: This is the default option. When you select this restart option, you cannot connect to the database while the restart is in progress.

   • Online restart: When you select this restart option, the database remains available during the restart. New connections to the database will always succeed. Existing database connections may get disconnected briefly; however, you can immediately reconnect and continue using the database.

     During an online restart, the Autonomous AI Database instance is made available on new cluster nodes before the restart begins on the original nodes where it was running. After the database is available on new cluster nodes, all new connections are directed to the new nodes. This means the database remains online and available, and new database connection requests will succeed during an online restart.

     Note:

     When you enable Oracle Java or Oracle Database Vault on your Autonomous AI Database, a standard database restart is required for the configuration to take effect.

Note:

When concurrent operations such as scaling are active, the confirmation also confirms either pausing or canceling the concurrent operation. See Concurrent Operations on Autonomous AI Database for more information.

The Autonomous AI Database instance state changes to "Restarting". After the restart is successful, Autonomous AI Database instance state changes to "Available".

Notes for Autonomous AI Database restart:

• When you restart an Autonomous AI Database instance, Autonomous AI Database CPU billing is initiated, billed by the second with a minimum usage period of one minute.
