Target Database Groups

You can leverage target database groups to complete operations on multiple target databases simultaneously.

A target database group is a collection of multiple target databases. Target database grouping facilitates operations on multiple target databases simultaneously thereby eliminating the time and effort needed for individual target management.

Create a Target Database Group

You can create a target database group to facilitate operations on multiple target databases simultaneously, thereby eliminating the time and effort needed for individual target management.

  1. Under Data Safe - Database Security, select Target Database Groups.
  2. Select Create target database group.
  3. Enter a group name.
  4. (Optional) Enter a description.
  5. Select a compartment for the target database group.
  6. Select a condition. Target database(s) are added to the group if they are in an active or needs attention state, and if they fulfill at least one of the conditions defined below. Target database group membership is limited to the compartment where the group is created and its sub-compartments.
    • If you select Compartment as the condition, select a compartment. (Optional) Select Include child compartments if needed.
    • If you select Tag as the condition, select a tag namespace, select a tag key, and enter a tag value. Tags are considered only within the compartment where the target database group is created and its sub-compartments.
    • If you select Target database as the condition, select a compartment, and then select one or more targets databases.
  7. To add additional members to the group, select Add more members.
  8. (Optional) For each tag you want to add, select Add tag, and then select a tag namespace, select a key, and enter a tag value.
  9. Select Create target database group.

Update a Target Database Group

You can modify the membership of a target database group, move a target database group to a different compartment, add tags to a target database group, and delete a target database group.

  1. Under Data Safe - Database Security , select Target Database Groups.
  2. Select a target database group. A page with details for the group opens.
  3. To add or remove members from the group, select Edit membership.
  4. To add members to the group, do the following:
    1. Select a condition. Target databases are added to the group if they fulfill at least one of the conditions.
    2. If you select Compartment as the condition, select a compartment. Optionally, select Include child compartments.
    3. If you selectTag as the condition, select a tag namespace, select a tag key, and enter a tag value.
    4. If you selectTarget database as the condition, select a compartment, and then select one more target databases.

      Note:

      If the group uses target database OCIDs in its matching criteria and any of those targets are not in Active or Needs Attention state, you must remove those OCIDs from the criteria before saving the update.
    5. To add additional members to the group, select Add more members and configure another condition.
    6. Select Save.
  5. To move the target database group to a different compartment, do the following:
    1. From the Actions menu, select Move resource. The Move resource panel opens.
    2. Select a destination compartment, and then select Move resource.
  6. (Optional) To add tags to the target database group, do the following:
    1. Select the Tags tab.
    2. For each tag you want to add, select Add tag, and then select a tag namespace, select a key, and enter a tag value.
  7. To delete a target database group, do the following:
    • On the Target database groups page, select the three dots next to the target database group that you want to remove, and then select Delete. A dialog box opens asking you to confirm. Select Delete.
    • Navigate to a Target database group page. From the Actions menu, select Delete. A dialog box opens asking you to confirm. Select Delete.
