Download, Install, and Start Oracle Analytics Client Tools

Download and install Oracle Analytics Client Tools to enable remote connections from reporting dashboards and analyses. And you can use Model Administration Tool (one of the client tools available for Microsoft Windows) to edit a semantic model (.rpd file) that contains a data source that isn't supported by Semantic Modeler.

Note:

Oracle Analytics Client Tools requires JDK 17+. See Java SE Development Kit 17.0.18 downloads.

After you've installed Oracle Analytics Client Tools, apply the latest database update patch and Web Logic Server patch set. See Apply the Latest Patches for Oracle Analytics Client Tools.

You can install Oracle Analytics Client Tools on Windows or Linux platforms.
  • The Windows software pack installs the graphical user-interface version of Model Administration Tool, as well as command line utilities such as runcat.cmd (for catalog management).
  • The Linux software pack installs runcat.sh and datamodel.sh command line utilities.

Note:

Oracle updates Oracle Analytics Client Tools with each Oracle Analytics Cloud update. Make sure that you're using the latest update of Oracle Analytics Client Tools. Using mismatched versions leads to incompatibility issues.
  1. Navigate to the download page for Oracle Analytics Client Tools.
  2. Select Oracle Analytics Client Tools Latest Update to display the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud page.
  3. Click the Platforms down arrow, and select All.
  4. In the Software column of the table, select the download pack for your platform (Windows or Linux).
    • For Windows, select Oracle Analytics Client <Month><Year>-Win for (Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)), <Size> GB.
    • For Linux, select Oracle Analytics Client <Month><Year>-Linux for (Linux x86-64), <Size> GB.
  5. De-select other components (for example, Data Gateway and Power BI Connector).
  6. In the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud page, click the license agreement checkbox.
  7. Click Download.
  8. Navigate to the downloaded installer (.exe) file on your computer.
  9. Run the installer file as Administrator.
  10. Start the Oracle Analytics Client Tools:
    • For Windows, go to the Windows Start menu, click Oracle Analytics Client Tools, and select the name of the tool you want to use. For example, to edit a semantic model, click Model Administration Tool.
    • For Linux, run the runcat.sh and datamodel.sh command line utilities. See Using Oracle Analytics Client Tools on Linux.
