Importing Metadata

You can import metadata from a flat file in a comma-delimited, tab-delimited, or other format.

These artifacts are supported in the imports:

• Dimensions

• Smart Lists

• Exchange rate tables (See Importing Exchange Rates for a Multicurrency Application.)

To import metadata:

1. Create an import file for each artifact that you want to import.

   See About the Metadata Import File.

2. Load the import file or files.

   You can import multiple dimension files at the same time. See Loading the Metadata Import File.

When importing metadata, keep in mind the following points:

• You cannot rename members of attribute dimensions during a metadata import. Renaming of members will be ignored.

• You cannot delete attribute dimensions while importing metadata.
