When you hire a new employee in Ohio, or have an existing employee move into a taxable school district, they’ll fill out an Employee’s Withholding Exemption Certificate that identifies what school district they live in.
Click Payroll.
Once you determine that the employee needs school district tax withheld, you’ll need to update that employee’s tax card with the Ohio school district information.
Click the Calculation Cards link.
Find your employee, and open their Tax Withholding card.
In the Search for a Person field, enter patty anderson.
Click Search.
In the Gary Numan row, click the Actions drop-down list and select Calculation Cards.
In the Search Results section, click the Tax Withholding link.
The calculation will first look for school district on the state tax card, then on the City tax card. If not found on either, then no School District tax will be calculated.
On the Tax Withholding page, click the Edit icon for State Taxes.
When selecting the school district, you can see all of the available school districts for the employee’s resident tax city. You can then select the appropriate school district from the information provided by the employee.
Click the School District of Residence drop-down list and select Maryland SD.
Click Save and Close.
