Filter subjects in a study

Subject filters are located at the top of the subjects table. You can use these filters individually or in a combined way.

Note:

Depending on your study role and site assignments, only certain countries and sites are available when filtering through subjects. For more information, see Best practices for study role assignment.
  1. On the Home page, determine where to work:
    • To work with real data in Production mode, click the title of the study.
    • To work with mock data in Training mode, click the Training Mode button ( graduation cap button ) on the study.

The study in Training mode is typically identical to the study in Production mode, but Training mode is just for practicing. Data entered in Training mode isn't available in Production mode, just as data entered in Production mode isn't available in Training mode.

  2. Along the top, click Subjects.
  3. Determine which filters you want to use and select an option for each filter.

    Note:

For the Countries and Sites filter, if you only have access to one site in the study, that single site is selected by default for your filter and the Sites filter is inactive. Moreover, the Countries filter is not displayed at all.
    Filter Description
    Countries

Select one country that you want to view subjects for.

This filter includes the countries that you have access to. By default, the filter is set to All countries.

    Sites

Select one site that you want to view subjects for.

This filter includes the sites that you have access to. By default, this filter is set to All sites.

If you only have access to one site in the study or the country that you previously selected (for the Countries filter) only has one associated site organization, that site is automatically selected for this filter. The Sites filter is inactive (you cannot change its selection).

    Subjects

Select one or multiple subject statuses if you want to view subjects in a specific state.

This filter includes all of the statuses a subject can have. By default, this filter is set to All subjects.

    Review status

Select one review status to view subjects whose visits are in a specific state.

This filter includes all of the review-related statuses that a visit can have. By default, this filter is set to All reviews.

    Search for Subject

Manually type the name of the subject you are looking for. As you type, the list of subjects will automatically narrow down.

    Note:

If you separate your search terms using spaces, the filter will treat them as distinct, which may broaden the scope of your results. For example, typing CLIN-0004 will only display results containing this exact search query. However, typing CLIN and 0004 separately will display all the results containing at least one of these keywords, thus providing a much broader set of results.

  4. Browse the list of displayed subjects.
  5. To remove the filters, click Clear Filters.
The filters you select are preserved until you sign out of the application, but they are not preserved if you switch to another study.
