Extract Multiple Files From A Compressed File

You can upload compressed files and extract them within Oracle Content Management. This is a useful way to easily create a hierarchy of folders and files, or to revision multiple files at once.

  1. Select the compressed file to extract and choose Unzip in the right-click menu or click Unzip Icon in the actions bar.

  2. By default, the option to create a new folder for the extracted files is selected. To change the default and select an existing folder where you want the file extracted, scroll to the bottom of the dialog and enable Select an existing folder.

  3. Select the folder where you want to either create the new folder or unzip the file and click Unzip.

If you chose to create a new folder, the new folder uses the name of the .zip file and the .zip file is extracted into the new folder. If a folder of that name already exists, both folders are kept and a number is appended to the new folder name. For example, if a file named MyZip.zip is extracted into a new folder, the new folder would be named MyZip. If MyZip.zip is extracted to a new folder at a location that already has a MyZip folder, the new folder would be named MyZip(2).

  4. If you chose to extract into an existing folder, then you must choose how to resolve duplicate names. Options are:
    • Keep both files (default)—Duplicate names are adjusted

    • Replace existing files—the extracted file becomes a new revision of the existing file of the same name

    • Ignore duplicate files—files in the .zip file with the same name as existing files are not extracted from the .zip file.

  5. Once you've selected how to resolve duplicate names, click Apply.

Note:

Oracle Content Management extracts compressed files that are encoded with the UTF-8 character set. If the files and folders in a compressed .zip file are encoded with a character set other than UTF-8, an error may occur and the file and folder names and other properties may be unreadable.
