What’s New in Oracle SOA Cloud Service

Learn about the new and changed features of Oracle SOA Cloud Service.

Notes:

  • The information in this guide applies only to existing Oracle SOA Cloud Service accounts. Oracle SOA Cloud Service is no longer available for new accounts.

All Releases

When you provision a new Oracle SOA Cloud Service instance, it contains all of the latest patches associated with the product. However, existing instances are not automatically updated with the latest bundle patches from subsequent releases. You are responsible for keeping the patch levels current. For a list of patches installed in instances provisioned with each release of Oracle SOA Cloud Service, see Patches Installed By Release in Administering Oracle SOA Cloud Service. Sign in to My Oracle Support and search for the patch numbers to locate and download the patches.

April 2021 — Release 21.2.1

  • Open the navigation menu in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console and click OCI Classic Services. Under Platform Services, click SOA.

Oracle SOA Cloud Service can be provisioned to use Oracle SOA Suite 12.2.1.4 for the SOA with SB & B2B Cluster service type. See About the Components of Oracle SOA Cloud Service in Administering Oracle SOA Cloud Service.

You can also provision new Oracle SOA Cloud Service instances to use Oracle SOA Suite 12.2.1.3. However, you cannot provision new Oracle SOA Cloud Service instances to use Oracle SOA Suite 12.2.1.2 or 12.1.3.

Support for Oracle Managed File Transfer 12c (12.2.1.4)

Oracle SOA Cloud Service can be provisioned to use Oracle Managed File Transfer 12.2.1.4 for the MFT Cluster service type. See About the Components of Oracle SOA Cloud Service in Administering Oracle SOA Cloud Service.

You can also provision new Oracle SOA Cloud Service instances to use Oracle Managed File Transfer 12.2.1.3. However, you cannot provision new Oracle SOA Cloud Service instances to use Oracle Managed File Transfer 12.2.1.2 or 12.1.3.

Change to ports in an existing subnet

If you provision your Oracle SOA Cloud Service instance in an existing subnet, the ports that you must open explicitly before provisioning changed:

  • Administration Server: from 7001/7002 to 9071/9072
  • Managed Servers to load balancer subnet from 7003/7004 to 9073/9074

JDeveloper or Maven deployments for new instances require network channel protocol t3 or t3s To deploy SOA applications from JDeveloper or Maven to new Oracle SOA Cloud Service instances provisioned with 20.2.1 or later, WebLogic Administration Server network channels of type http or https protocols must be modified to t3 or t3s. Feature Description
Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing database support with the SOA with SB & B2B Cluster service type

You can select an Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing database to use with the SOA with SB & B2B Cluster service type when provisioning an Oracle SOA Cloud Service instance.

Business Activity Monitoring service type

You can select Business Activity Monitoring as the service type when provisioning an Oracle SOA Cloud Service instance.

Feature Description

My Services replaced with Platform Services in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console

After signing into Oracle Cloud, account administrators use the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console to access SOA under Platform Services. Previously you accessed these services from the My Services Dashboard.

Update storage credentials

Oracle SOA Suite 12c (12.2.1.2) being phased out

Oracle recommends that you use newer versions of Oracle SOA Suite as support for new instances that use Oracle SOA Suite 12.2.1.2 is being phased out. December 2018 — Release 18.4.5

Bare Metal database support for Oracle SOA Cloud Service instances on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in the Provisioning Wizard

Feature Description

Switch from non-BYOL to BYOL and vice-versa

Support Oracle SOA Suite 12c (12.2.1.3) for quick start instances

Bare Metal database support for Oracle SOA Cloud Service instances on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure combines the elasticity and utility of public cloud with the granular control, security, and predictability of on-premises infrastructure to deliver high-performance, high availability, and cost-effective infrastructure services.

Support for IP reservations

Oracle SOA Cloud Service supports IP reservations. You can reserve IP addresses for the VMs in your service instance during provisioning.

November 2017 — Release 17.4.3

Feature Description

Support for the EDI Adapter is now available for the SOA with SB & B2B service type.

The EDI Adapter provides a comprehensive platform for the implementation and management of business processes utilizing EDI and its related standards. The adapter can be enabled during provisioning for use with the SOA with SB & B2B service type on 12.2.1.2 and the SOA & B2B Cluster service type on 12.1.3.

The B2B adapter for EDI is only available for use with the Universal Credits billing model and is billed as an additionally metered amount on the Oracle SOA Cloud Service OCPUs at the instance level during provisioning or scaling.  You cannot add the B2B Adapter for EDI to existing instances, nor can you remove it from an instance that it is assigned to.  The adapter can only be set during the initial provisioning process and can only be removed by deleting the instance.  Billing can be paused by stopping the instance, since Universal Credits model is billed by the hour.
