16 Keyboard Shortcuts for the Contributor Interface

The Oracle WebCenter Sites: Contributor interface enables you to use various keyboard shortcuts to speed up your content management process and to give you a completely accessible interface. Learn about keyboard shortcuts for navigating in the Contributor interface, working with search features, assets and dialogs, bookmarking and unbookmarking assets. Also, see some examples of working with keyboard shortcuts.

16.1 Keyboard Shortcuts

The following sections list the keyboard shortcuts you can use to perform content management and other functions in the Contributor interface:

Use this section as a reference only if your WebCenter Sites administrator has not reconfigured the default keyboard shortcuts.

16.1.1 Shortcuts for Navigating in the Contributor Interface

Table 16-1 provides a list of keyboard shortcuts you can use to navigate to different areas in the Contributor interface, including the navigation pane, menu bar, and applications bar.

Navigate to the first option in the menu bar.

ALT + 1

Note: Navigate between menu bar options by using the right and left arrow keys.

Navigate to the first node in the open tree (Site Tree, Content Tree, or My Work tree) of the navigation pane.

ALT + 2

Navigate to the Refresh button (if available).

Alt + 5

Note: Press Enter to refresh the content in the tab.

Toggle the applications bar open and closed.

Ctrl + Alt + R

(When the applications bar is open) Navigate to the first icon in the applications bar.

Ctrl + Alt + W

Note: Press Enter to select the icon. Use the Tab key to move to the different icons and fields in the applications bar.

Navigate to the active tab of an asset.

Ctrl + Alt + H

Note: Navigate between the tabs of the asset by using the right and left arrow keys.

Navigate to the active tab (the tab currently displaying content).

ALT + 3

Close the active tab.

Ctrl + Shift + X

Close the Contributor window.

Shift + Del

Log out of WebCenter Sites.

Ctrl + Shift + Q

Log the current keyboard command configuration to the browser's console.

Ctrl + Alt + L

Note: This log shows you the current configuration for the keyboard commands you can use in the Contributor interface. To view this log, you must open your browser's Web Console tool.

Navigate between input fields (forwards).

Navigate between input fiels (backwards).

Navigate between the tabs of an asset in Form View.

Activate links and buttons.

16.1.2 Shortcuts for Working with the Search Feature

Table 16-2 provides a list of keyboard shortcuts you can use to work with the search feature in the Contributor interface, including accessing the Search Type menu and the Advanced Search form.

16.1.4 Shortcuts for Working with an Asset

Table 16-4 provides a list of keyboard shortcuts you can use to perform content management functions on the asset you are currently working with.

16.1.6 Shortcuts for Working with the Calendar Tool

Table 16-6 provides a list of keyboard shortcuts you can use to work with the calendar tool in the Contributor interface.

16.2 Examples of Working with Keyboard Shortcuts

This section provides the following examples for working with keyboard shortcuts:

Example 16-1 Finding and Opening an Asset

  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + F to place the cursor in the Search field.

  2. In the Search field, enter the criteria you want to search for.

  3. To narrow your search down to a specific asset type, do the following:

    1. Press Alt + 7 to select the Search Type menu, and press Enter to open it.

    2. Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to highlight the asset type you want to search for, and then press Enter to select the asset type and close the menu.

  4. Press the Tab key until the magnifying glass icon is highlighted, and then press Enter to run the search.

  5. Press Ctrl + Shift + F to highlight the first asset's name in the search results list, and then use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to highlight the asset you want to open.

  6. Press Enter to open the highlighted asset in its Inspect view.

Example 16-2 Using the Drag and Drop Keyboard Commands

  1. Find and open the asset containing the drag-and-drop field into which you want to drop an asset.

  2. If the asset opens in Web View, press Alt + 4 to focus the cursor on the first icon in the asset's toolbar, which is the Mode switch, and press Enter to switch to Form View.

  3. Press Ctrl + Alt + E to open the asset's Edit view.

  4. Run a search for the asset you want to drop into the drag-and-drop field (for instructions see Example 16-1).

    The search results list opens to the right of the asset.

  5. Press Ctrl + Shift + F to highlight the name of the first asset in the search results list.

  6. Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to navigate to the asset you want to drop into the field. When the asset's name is highlighted, press Ctrl + M to initiate the drag-and-drop command.

  7. Press Ctrl + Alt + A to navigate to the first field in the asset's form, and then use the Tab key to navigate to the drag-and-drop field.

  8. When the drag-and-drop field is highlighted, press Ctrl + M to drop the asset from the search results list into the field.

  9. Press Escape to end the drag-and-drop command.

  10. Press Ctrl + Alt + S to save your changes to the asset.

Example 16-3 Working with the Navigation Pane

  1. Press Alt + 2 to navigate to the first node in the open tree (Site Tree, Content Tree, or My Work tree) of the navigation pane.

  2. Press the Tab button until the bar for the tree you want to open (located at the bottom of the navigation pane) is highlighted, and then press Enter to open it.

  3. Press Alt + 2 to highlight the first node in the tree you opened.

  4. Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to navigate to the node you want to expand in the tree, then press right arrow to expand it and left arrow to contract it.
