01. What is Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud?

This refers to running Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and the Oracle E-Business Suite database on Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure and database service offerings.

Your two main options are to run EBS and the EBS database on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or run EBS on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and the EBS database on an associate database service.

Alternatively, you can run EBS in your own data center, and the EBS database on Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer.

02. What deployment capabilities are provided for using oracle e-business suite on oracle cloud?

With an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute subscription and our automation tools, you can quickly provision new instances of Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as lift and shift your existing Oracle E-Business Suite instances from on-premises to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with optional database services.

Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud (Doc ID 2066260.1) outlines current capabilities and should be visited periodically.

03. What are the key benefits to using Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud?

Key benefits are support for business growth, greater business agility, and lower costs and risks. Businesses must be agile to respond to changes such as acquisitions, globalization, divestitures, and regulatory or process changes, with the ability to adopt new technologies or applications functionality. IT can provision new development and test environments quickly in response to such changes while ensuring continuity of day-to-day operations.

Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure offerings are elastic and allow IT to scale up or scale out the infrastructure on demand. This elasticity and the flexibility to pay-as-you-go reduces the need for upfront capital expenditure and decreases wait times for hardware and other resources, lessening overall project risk.

04. Is Oracle releasing Oracle E-Business Suite as a SaaS (Software as a Service) application?

Oracle has no plans to offer Oracle E-Business Suite as a SaaS solution.

05. WHAT managed services Does ORACLE PROVIDE for Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud?

Oracle’s Managed Cloud Services (OMCS) provides managed services for customers running Oracle E-Business Suite instances on Oracle Cloud.

06. Are there additional licensing fees for using Oracle E-Business Suite with Oracle Cloud?

Oracle Cloud resources and services are available for subscription by Oracle customers. Customers who already own Oracle E-Business Suite product licenses may use their Oracle Cloud subscription to provision and deploy Oracle E-Business Suite instances on the Oracle Cloud. The deployed instances may be used for development, testing, training, and so on. Once a customer acquires a subscription to Oracle Cloud, no additional Oracle E-Business Suite license or usage license is required.

07. Do I need to purchase Oracle E-Business Suite product licenses to run oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud?

Oracle customers who already own Oracle E-Business Suite licenses may use the Oracle Cloud to host instances of their applications. Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure Compute service uses a "Bring your Own License" model, so customers who wish to use Oracle's infrastructure must already own a valid license to the software deployed on the cloud.

08. How do I access my Oracle E-Business Suite instances on Oracle Cloud?

Oracle E-Business Suite clients on your LAN connect using a VPN to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure VCN where the Oracle E-Business Suite servers reside. Instead of using a VPN, you may alternatively restrict ingress to the IP ranges that are used by your LAN's outbound web proxy servers. If exposing Oracle E-Business Suite functionality to the internet, you should follow the Oracle E-Business Suite DMZ configuration guidelines.

09. how Can I customize and extend Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud?

The same Oracle tools you use within your on-premises data center are available on the cloud in order for you to customize or extend your Oracle E-Business Suite systems.

10. How do I migrate customizations of Oracle E-Business Suite on the cloud to my on-premises production system?

Oracle Application Management Suite provides the capability to migrate changes across your Oracle E-Business Suite instances from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute to on-premises and vice versa.

11. HOW Can I use MY own custom data with Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud?

You can clone your on-premises instances to the cloud in order to create a complete Oracle E-Business Suite development and testing environment that uses your own existing data.

12. Can I use the same certified third-party products I currently use on-premises with Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud?

Yes, the entire Oracle E-Business Suite architecture is the same whether deployed on-premises or on Oracle Cloud. All third-party components comprised in an Oracle E-Business Suite application instance will be deployed on the cloud. Oracle Cloud's strategy should also allow customers to use Oracle Cloud to host instances of other applications that integrate with their Oracle E-Business Suite systems. Refer to published capabilities and guidelines for using Oracle Cloud with your non-Oracle workloads.

13. Can I use Oracle's Database services with Oracle E-Business Suite?

We provide automation which enables you to conduct a new installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 or 12.1.3, or to help you lift and shift your existing 12.2 or 12.1.3 instances, with the database hosted on an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 1-Node or 2-Node VM DB System and the application tier hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute.

Note that the application tier always runs on an Oracle Compute service. See Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud (Doc ID 2066260.1) for more information regarding certified releases and automation capabilities.

14. Can I use Oracle's Exadata Database services with Oracle E-Business Suite?

We provide automation that enables you to perform a new installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 or 12.1.3, or to help you lift and shift your existing 12.2 or 12.1.3 instances, with the database hosted on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Exadata DB System and the application tier hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute.

Alternatively, you have the option to migrate your database tier to Exadata Cloud@Customer Gen 2 while continuing to run your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 or 12.1.3 application tier in your own data center (on-premises).

See Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud (Doc ID 2066260.1) for more information regarding certified releases and automation capabilities.

15. What tools are used for managing Oracle E-Business Suite environments on Oracle Cloud?

The same tool that is used to provision Oracle E-Business Suite to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute service and associated database services, Oracle E-Business Suite Cloud Manager, can be used to manage the resulting environments. Cloning, back up, discovery, and other capabilities are available.

In addition, the Oracle Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite allows you to monitor and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and on-premises instances with a unified interface.

16. What is Oracle's position on other cloud solutions, such as Amazon web services?

Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure solution and certified database services offer several clear advantages over other cloud solutions such as Amazon Web Services. For example, Oracle provides Oracle E-Business Suite cloud automation for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and associated database services that is not available from other vendors, and we will continue to add to our offerings. Also, other vendors do not have database services such as VM DB Systems, Exadata Cloud Services or Exadata Cloud@Customer.

Further, Oracle Support has well-established processes for collaboration across different product teams, designed to promote quicker resolution of issues. And Oracle tests on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and on certified database services, and not on Amazon.

We have no plans to test Oracle E-Business Suite on any other vendor's cloud solution, and therefore can make no statements about compatibility. This falls under our general policy for virtualization, under which Oracle will provide Oracle E-Business Suite patches for issues that can be reproduced on certified operating systems such as Oracle Linux, or on Oracle VM.
