Period Statistics

Academic statistics are calculated for students with an active academic program who enroll in courses where the result set (grading option such as Letter Grade, Pass or Fail) attached to the course can earn credit. Here we discuss period statistics. Cumulative statistics are calculated and stored in a similar way.

Let's look at the key fields on the Period Statistics tab to understand how a student's statistics are calculated and stored for a reporting period.

  • No GPA Units Attempted: The total number of units attempted where the units don't contribute to the grade point average.

  • No GPA Units Earned: The total number of units earned where the units don't contribute to the grade point average.

  • GPA Units Attempted: The total number of units attempted where the units contribute to the grade point average.

  • GPA Units Earned: The total number of units earned where the units contribute to the grade point average.

  • Grade Points: The total number of grade points.

  • Total In-Progress Units: The total number of units enrolled in, where no final result has been posted.

  • Total Earned Units: The total number of units earned.

  • Grade Point Average: The grade point average, stored at the reporting period level.
