Best Practices for Using Page Composer in Sandboxes

Here are a few things to keep in mind if you're using Page Composer in your sandbox.

  • While creating your sandbox, you can change the context layer for Page Composer from the default layer, Site to another layer, or from another layer back to Site. But for all other tools, you can use only the Site layer. After you create your sandbox, you can't change the context layer for Page Composer.

  • If you select a context layer that’s not Site, make sure the page you want to edit supports this context layer. Otherwise, you won’t be able to edit the page. For example, only Customer Relationship Management pages support the Job Role layer. So, if you create a sandbox for a specific job role, you won’t be able to edit Human Capital Management pages in this sandbox.

  • If you create configurations for a specific job role using Page Composer, then you must assign yourself that same job role to view and test configurations in the sandbox. For example, if you create your page layout for the Sales Manager job role, you must have the Sales Manager job role to view and test the page layout.
  • While creating your sandbox, if you have selected Page Composer and a layer that's not Site, don't add other tools to your sandbox. If you do, you will be prompted to confirm adding other tools and changing the layer for Page Composer to Site.

  • After you create a sandbox that has only Page Composer and a layer that's not Site, you can't go back and add any other tool to your sandbox.

  • While creating your sandbox, suppose you have selected multiple tools including Page Composer. And then you try to change Page Composer's context layer to a layer that's not Site. That change won't happen unless you confirm that all other tools should be removed from the sandbox.
