Work Items

Work items are used to manage association of a project task with:

  • Negotiations from Oracle Fusion Sourcing

  • Items and product change orders from Oracle Fusion Innovation Management

  • Concepts, proposals, and requirement specifications from Oracle Fusion Product Development

  • Issues and deliverables from Oracle Fusion Project Management

Work items are used to drive task progress if there's at least one work item with task completion event. A task is marked as complete when the status of all the work items match their corresponding task completion event. Keep in mind that you can't manually update task progress to 100% if task completion events are set.

Considerations for Creating and Managing Work Items

Here's the list of ways in which project managers can create and update work items:

  • The Manage Work Items page or the Manage Work Items dialog box on the Manage Project Plan page

  • Using the Manage Work Items option in the right-click menu of a task in the Manage Project Plan page.

  • Corresponding Negotiation or Product Management pages

Note: You can't associate deliverables or issues from the Manage Work Items page. Also, you can't associate concepts and requirement specifications as Work Items in the Manage Work Items dialog box on the Manage Project Plan page.

Considerations for Removing Work Items

Project managers can't remove a work item after its status has changed to the status specified as the task completion event and the associated task is complete.

Note: When you delete a task, Project Management removes its work items.
