SAIG Administration

You connect to the U.S. Department of Education's (ED) Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) to setup SAIG mailboxes, update, and test your school's SAIG passwords.

Overview

After enrolling and setting up your SAIG mailboxes on ED's websites you can navigate to the SAIG Administration screen to enter the TG/FT Number, password, and test password connectivity. After this, running the Vocado U.S. Department of Education Gateway (VUG) uses the new or updated connection details.

An audit history of all the changes made to the SAIG connection details are displayed on the SAIG Administration page. An audit record is created for each update to the connection details, including the User and Date/Time the change was made. Audit history records are sorted with the most recent change first.

Note: There are two SAIG mailboxes to control:
  • FTI-SAIG for Federal Tax Information (FTI) data.
  • SAIG for all other ED data.

Required Role Permissions

You must have a role with the following General Permissions through Roles Management to complete the manual processing steps.

  • Administration.
  • SAIG Administration.

See Set General Permissions Matrix for additional information.

Setting Up Your FTI-SAIG Mailbox in Production

Follow these steps in sequence before using the Student Financial Aid (SFA) Federal Tax Information – Student Aid Internet Gateway (FTI-SAIG) Mailbox feature for processing 2024-2025 and future Aid Year ISIRs in a Production environment:

  1. Go to ED's SAIG Enrollment Site to sign the updated SAIG enrollment agreement and enroll for a new FTI-SAIG mailbox for your institution.
  2. Log into the Federal Tax Information Transaction Delivery Community Manager (FTI-TDCM) portal using credentials you have created in Step 1. From the portal, you must:
    1. Export the INI file.
    2. Export the Runtime (RTM) Certificate file.
    3. Retrieve the Approval code provided by ED.
  3. Navigate to the TD Client Management UI in SFA and ensure the FTI TD Client mailbox is in a status of Suspended.
  4. Open an Oracle Service Request (SR) for SFA with a title of “INI File for FTI-SAIG Mailbox Setup” and attach the:
    1. Exported INI file.
    2. Exported RTM Certificate file.
    3. Approval Code (via a Word doc or text snippet).
    4. Screenshot of the UI in a Suspended status for the FTI TD Client Mailbox.
  5. Upon receipt of your complete SR, Oracle Support begins the backend setup activities for your FTI SAIG mailbox.
  6. Once you have been informed that the mailbox setup is complete, navigate to the TD Client Management UI and enter the new FT Number and Password information associated with the new FTI TD Client mailbox and set the TD Client Selection Indicator from Suspended to Active. You are now ready to use your new FTI TD Client mailbox.
