Significance of the Sales Product Type Field

The Sales Product Type field is an important attribute in relation to Sales Products. The value set in this field indicate whether a product can participate in specific CX Sales management processes by default, without customization.

For example, the sales product types, Subscription and Extended Warranty, are meant for products that follow Subscription Management (in other words, the Subscription-Sales management process), whereas One Time Service, Installation, Software Maintenance, and Preventive Maintenance are example Service products and are referred to in the Service Sales Management process.

Note: In the create and edit product pages, if the Sales Product Type selected is one of the following, then the Eligible for Service check box is cleared and disabled: Extended Warranty, Included Warranty, Preventive Maintenance, Service Level Agreement, Software Maintenance.

Optionally, you can modify the list of product types that display in the sales UI. Sales products retrieve the list of values for Product Type from the lookup type, QSC_SALES_PRODUCT_TYPE. You can find the lookup type in the Setup and Maintenance task, Manage Standard Lookups.
