Setting Up Application Display Groups

Use the Display Group setup pages to show groups of business license, permit, and planning applications on your agency’s landing page, where you start an application.

An application display group identifies a meaningful grouping of the application types displayed as a list on the Apply page. The list appears as the business license, permits, or planning applications that an agency staff or a guest user can select to initiate the application process.

Before setting up application display groups, you must set up the application types that your agency offers. See Setting Up Permit Types, Setting Up Planning Application Types, and Setting Up Business License Types.

Adding Application Display Groups

  1. Select the Setup and Maintenance tile on the Agency Springboard to access Functional Setup Manager.

  2. From the Setup drop-down list, select your offering.

  3. From the Functional Areas list in the left panel, select <offering>Types:

    • Permits > Permit Types

    • Planning and Zoning > Planning Application Types

    • Business Licenses > Business License Types

  4. The right panel shows the required tasks for the selected functional area. Select Manage <offering> Type Display Groups from the tasks list:

    • Permit Types > Manage Permit Type Display Groups

    • Planning Application Types > Manage Planning Application Type Display Groups

    • Business License Types > Manage Business License Type Display Groups

  5. On the Application Display Group page, click Add to add a new group:

    Display Group Sequence

    When you add a new group, it will default to the next number. You can overwrite the default value and also update the existing sequence numbers.

    Note: The groups marked for Permits should have a higher priority than those for Planning and Zoning, and then Business License.

    Display Group ID

    Enter an identifier of the display group.

    Display Group

    Enter a name for the display group that appears on the Apply page for guests and agency staff.

    Description

    Enter a description of the display group.

    URL

    Enter a URL that agency staff can use to access additional information. This page is the only place that the URL appears, so it is not available to guests.

    Applicable Classification

    Select the check box for the applications to which this display group applies. Choose from these options:

    • Business Licenses

    • Permits

    • Planning and Zoning

    This option determines whether a display group type is shown on the Apply page for public users. A display group can be included with more than one classification.

  6. Verify that the Enabled switch is turned on. The switch is turned on by default for new display groups.

  7. In the Display group lines section, search and select from existing group lines. To view a list of existing application types, click the View transaction types link, which opens the Transaction Types page in a separate browser window to show the applicable transactions.

    Click Add to set up a new line on the New display group line drawer. The display group lines are application types that make up the list in the new display group.

    Note: A mix of different application types can be added to a display group. For example, you can add a planning application type to a permit application display group and the other way around.

    Display Order

    Enter a numerical value in this field to specify the order in which you want the application type to be displayed, if desired. The default value is 0 and upon saving, the system automatically assigns the next value.

    Application Type ID

    Select an existing application type ID.

    Application type information

    Review the attribute information for the application type to verify you have selected the correct application type ID:

    • Application Type

    • Classification

    • Application Group

    • Category

    • Subcategory

  8. Click Save.

Modifying Application Display Groups and Lines

You can modify application display groups and the applications in the list on the Application Display Group Details page and Display group line details drawer, respectively.

  1. Navigate to the Application Display Group page and select the row for the display group that you want to modify.

  2. On the Application Display Group Details page, you can:

    1. Modify the display group name and description. You can’t change the display group ID.

    2. Enable or disable the display group.

  3. If you made any changes, click Save.

  4. To modify the display group lines (the list of applications in a display group), select the row for the application group that you want to modify on the Application Display Group page.

  5. On the Application Display Group Details page, select a display group line in the Display group lines grid.

  6. On the Display group line details drawer, you can change the values in these fields:

    • Update the Display Order field to change the order in which the lines appear.

    • Update the Application Type ID field with another existing application type ID.

  7. If you made any changes, click Save.

Deleting Application Display Groups and Lines

  1. Navigate to the Application Display Group page and select the row for the display group that you want to delete.

  2. Click Delete on the Application Display Group Details page.

  3. To delete a display group line, go to the Application Display Group Details page and select a display group line in the Display group lines grid.

  4. On the Display group line details drawer, click Delete.
