How the Independent Shipments Forecast Is Generated

This topic explains how the independent shipments forecast is generated for multiechelon replenishment plans.

  1. After collections, the history for the sales order shipments and the history for the transfer orders and movement requests are stored in the Shipments History measure.

The history for the transfer orders and movement requests is also stored in the Dependent Shipments History measure.

  2. The dependent shipments history is subtracted from the shipments history, and the resulting value is stored in the Independent Shipments History measure.
  3. The Independent Shipments History measure is provided as the input measure for the predefined forecasting profile named Forecast Independent Shipments.

After the plan is run, the independent shipments forecast is calculated and stored in the output measure named Independent Shipments Forecast.

If the predefined forecasting profile named Forecast Shipments is used, the Final Shipments History measure is used as the input measure, and the total shipments forecast that includes the independent shipments forecast is stored in the output measure named Shipments Forecast.
