Setting Up GIS Feature Services

You add URLs to editable feature services on the GIS Feature Service setup page. The feature service allows editing using REST APIs.

An editable feature service is required for Oracle Permitting and Licensing to write on ESRI maps. You set up GIS feature services to reference before you set up GIS mapping.

If you add and want to secure an editable feature service on the GIS Feature Service page, you also need to add a proxy user for secure web map access. For more information, see Setting Up Authorization to Access Secure Web Maps.

You need an editable feature service to display transaction data exported to the map when the feature service is associated with the transaction to GIS attributes mapping definition. For more information, see Setting Up Transaction to GIS Attributes Mapping and Setting Up Export GIS Data Actions.

Here's how to add GIS feature services:

  1. Access setup through the Functional Setup Manager by selecting Setup and Maintenance > GIS > Manage GIS Feature Service.

  2. On the GIS Feature Service setup page, click the Add (+) button.

  3. On the New GIS feature service drawer, enter this information:

    Page Element Description

    ID

Enter an identifier or ID for the feature service.

    Name and Description

Enter the short name and description of the feature service.

    URL

Enter the unique server URL (uniform resource locator) to an editable feature service.
  4. Click Save.

You can also manage the feature services listed on the GIS Feature Service setup page like this:

  • Click the feature service row in the table to open the GIS feature service details drawer. You can save changes or delete the feature service.

    Note:

If the feature service is already associated with a mapping definition, updating or removing the feature service will affect the associated map.

  • Enter key words in the Search field to find matching feature services.

  • Click the Export button to download a list of feature services on the page.
