How You Enable Access to HCM Data Loader

You can perform the following tasks in the Data Exchange work area using the predefined job role Human Capital Management Integration Specialist:

  • Recent File Loads

  • View Business Objects

  • Import and Load Data

  • Delete Stage Table Data

Note: While assigning roles, avoid granting the Human Capital Management Integration Specialist for a user who needs only HCM Data Loader functionality. This is a very potent role that exposes the user to many other features that they may not need.

This topic explains how to give other roles access to these tasks. You must have the IT Security Manager job role or privileges.

Access to Import and Load Data Files

A single duty role provides access to:
  • The Data Exchange work area
  • The View Business Objects task
  • The Recent File Loads task
  • The Import and Load Data task
  • The Delete Stage Table Data task and process.
  • The HCM Data Loader processes for transferring, importing and loading data.

To enable this access, edit your custom role to add the following duty role:

You must also grant access to the Oracle WebCenter Content server folders that HDL uses for staging files to upload and generating template and error files. Grant your custom role these role hierarchies:

Access to the View Business Objects Task

On the View Business Objects task, you can review the supported business objects, their hierarchical shape and details of their supported attributes. If you’re not using the HCM Data Load duty role, to enable this access, you edit the custom roles to add the following Function Security Privileges:

In addition, if the Manage Data Exchange Work Area (HRC_MANAGE_DATA_EXCHANGE_PRIV) function security privilege isn't already granted to the role, then you must grant it.

Access to the Delete Stage Table Data Task

On the Delete Stage Table task, you initiate the deletion of data sets that are no longer required and create schedules for the regular maintenance of the staging tables. If you’re not using the HCM Data Load duty role, to enable this access, you edit the custom roles to add the following Function Security Privilege:

In addition, if the Manage Data Exchange Work Area (HRC_MANAGE_DATA_EXCHANGE_PRIV) function security privilege isn't already granted to the role, then you must grant it.

Note: This privilege also gives access to the Recent File Loads task.If you want to delete protected data sets before they expire, or maintain schedules to regularly purge protected data sets, you also need the following Function Security Privilege:

Access to the Configure HCM Data Loader Task

On the Configure HCM Data Loader task, you configure the parameters that control HCM Data Loader and HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader import and load processes. This task is only available in Setup and Maintenance.

To enable access to this task, you edit the custom roles to add the following Function Security Privilege:

Manage Configuration of HCM Data Loader

Access to Bulk-Load Security Related Data

Enabling access to HCM Data Loader allows your users to bulk-load data into most of the objects that HCM Data Loader supports. An additional privilege is required for roles responsible for bulk-loading security related data using these objects:
  • User
  • Delegated Role
  • Role Mapping
  • Legislative Data Group Security Profile
  • Organization Security Profile
  • Country Security Profile
  • Position Security Profile
  • Document Type Security Profile
  • Areas of Responsibility
  • Exclusion Rule
  • Job Requisition Security Profile
To enable access to bulk-load data with these objects, you edit the custom roles to add the following Function Security Privilege:
