Understanding the Job Scheduler

When you schedule a batch process to run through the Scheduler, you can also add a recurrence pattern to the job, which means that the job will restart at the intervals that you define, such as once a week, once a month, or once a year. You can also specify how many times you want the job to run before it ends, or you can define a date after which the job will no longer run.

You schedule jobs in the local time of the server on which the job will run. For example, when you schedule a job, you might select the version that specifies the Eastern Time zone to run jobs in Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Enhanced Scheduler Password Encryption (Release 9.2.7.3)

With Tools Release 9.2.7.3, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne uses enhanced encryption to store the scheduled job user’s password in the Scheduled Job Master table (F91300). When a new scheduler record is created, the Schedule Jobs application (P93100) does not display the encrypted password in the Scheduling Advanced Options form (W91300I).

Note: If new records are created using a release prior to Tools Release 9.2.7.3, the system creates scheduler records without enhanced password encryption.
Prerequisites to create and validate records with enhanced password encryption:
  • The EnterpriseOne Tools Release 9.2.7.3 or later is deployed on all Windows Clients and Enterprise Servers, updating the F91300 table.
  • The Scheduler server which validates the encrypted password is running on EnterpriseOne Tools Release 9.2.7.3 or later.
Note: If the Scheduler kernel (Scheduler server) that validates the enhanced password encryption is running on a release prior to Tools Release 9.2.7.3, the validation fails and the scheduled job is not launched.

You might encounter an issue if some machines are updated and some are not. For example, if the machine that creates scheduler records is updated (creates new records with enhanced encryption) but the Scheduler server is not updated, then the newly created scheduler records are not processed. The Scheduler server, which is not updated, cannot read the records with enhanced password encryption. Similarly, a scheduler record created using the new format cannot be modified by a machine that is not updated to Tools Release 9.2.7.3 or later.
