Setting Up Fuel Types
Access the Fuel Types Revision form.
- Fuel Type

Enter a value for determinant that identifies the type of fuel used in combustion activities. You can only enter a determinant that belongs to the Fuel Type category. This value should exist in the Determinants table (F20S05).
- Biomass
- Enter a value from UDC 20S/BM to specify the presence of biomass in the fuel. If you leave this field blank, the system assigns the value of N for this field.
- Item Number

Enter a value for the item number to associate it to the fuel type if you are maintaining the fuel as an inventory item. If not, leave this field blank. This value can be in short, second item, or third item number format.
- Effective Date

Enter the date from when the fuel type becomes effective.
- Expiration Date

Enter the date from when the fuel type becomes ineffective.
- Carbon Content

Enter a value that specifies the mass of carbon per mass or volume of the fuel. For example, in 12.5 KG/FC, 12.5 represents the carbon content.
- Carbon Content UoM

Enter a value from UDC 00/UM that indicates the unit of measure in which the carbon content is measured for the fuel. For example, in 12.5 KG/FC, KG represents the UoM of the carbon content.
- Carbon Content Per Unit UoM

Enter a value from UDC 00/UM to specify the unit of measure associated with the per unit mass/volume of fuel to which the carbon content is related. For example, in 12.5 KG/FC, FC represents the per unit UoM of the carbon content.
- Higher Heating Value

Enter a value that specifies the higher heating value (HHV) of the fuel. It is the amount of heat released by a specified quantity (initially at 25°C) when it is combusted and the products have returned to a temperature of 25°C. It is also known as gross calorific value. For example, in 45.5 MJ/KG, 45.5 is the higher heating value.
- Higher Heating Value UoM

Enter a value from UDC (00/UM) that indicates the higher heating value unit of measure for the fuel. For example, in 45.5 MJ/KG, MJ is the higher heating value UoM.
- Higher Heating Value Per Unit UoM

Enter a value from UDC (00/UM) that indicates the unit of measure associated with the per unit mass/volume of fuel to which the higher heating value is related. For example, in 45.5 MJ/KG, KG is the higher heating value per unit UoM.
- Lower Heating Value

Enter a value that specifies the lower heating value (LHV) of the fuel. It is the amount of heat released by combusting a specified quantity (initially at 25°C) and returning the temperature of the combustion products to 150°C. It is also known as net calorific value. For example, in 42.68 MJ/KG, 42.68 is the lower heating value.

Enter a value from UDC (00/UM) that indicates the lower heating value unit of measure for the fuel. For example, in 42.68 MJ/KG, MJ is the lower heating value UoM.
- Lower Heating Value Per Unit UoM

Enter a value from UDC (00/UM) that indicates the unit of measure associated with the per unit mass/volume of fuel to which the lower heating value is related. For example, in 42.68 MJ/KG, KG is the lower heating value per unit UoM.
- The Carbon Content and the Heating Value fields, both lower and higher, their UoMs, and their Value per Unit UoM fields are all optional fields.
- Before you modify or delete a fuel type record, you must first delete or void all associated transactions. The system does not allow changes to records that are in use.
