System Log
- Process Management under any menu option. Then, under Logs, select System
- User (Settings and Actions) icon in the Unified Global Header. Then, under Troubleshooting, select System Log
The System log is a default log file that records the time, severity, and other data about system events such as exceptions or errors, status changes, planning actions, and rate engine actions. You can also run performance logs to monitor the success and run times of selected business processes, as well as search for particular log items. Log files record events in the current domain only.
Viewing System Logs
- Enter a date and time From which the log is to begin. Use the indicated format.
- Select the ID of the Log:
- SYSTEM for logging system events.
- EXCEPTION that captures any problem that halts execution of an Oracle Transportation Management action or workflow. Includes a trace of the error for technical support purposes.
- User Log is a user-specific log that captures log messages for a specific user.
- WEB for logging for UI components.
OR
Enter an Action Log. Action logs are a type of log that is collected when you select a log profile when running an action, editing a top-level record, or submitting a process control action.
- Select one or more Severities. Leave blank to find all log entries regardless of severity.
- Debug logs debug messages, including their start and complete times.
- Error logs error messages for failed or otherwise stopped processes.
- Explanation logs explanation messages.
- Performance logs summarized performance information about selected business processes.
- Performance Detail logs the start and stop times, and other details, of selected business processes.
- Warning logs warning messages. Warnings occur prior to errors.
Note: Log files that record debug messages may reduce your system performance. When running a debug log, carefully select the business processes that it monitors.
- Select one or more IDs of business processes to be logged. See the topic Log IDs for brief descriptions of what functions the IDs monitor.
- To find one or more specific log items, enter characters in the Search For field. You can search for any log item (for example, a specific Order ID, Shipment ID, or time stamp). Numbers, letters, and other characters can be entered. Use the Ignore Case checkbox to control case-sensitive searches using the Search For field.
- The Top Level Process field shows an ID for the process that was performed. In most cases, you should leave this field as is unless you are performing a search for a specific process. Then you would enter the appropriate ID.
- The Machine field only appears if Oracle Transportation Management is configured to run on multiple application servers and allows you to search the log for a particular application service machine on the network. If you make no choice, the log represents all log entries from each machine in the network topology.
- If needed, change the number Entries per Page to appear in the log. The maximum number of entries per page is 1000 for on-screen viewing. However, glog.log.downloadPageSize allows you to set the maximum number of entries to be higher when saving the output to a file.
- Click the Search All Backups checkbox if you want to search backup logs in addition to the current log. If not selected, it will search the current log only. You can configure the number of log backups using the Log Files menu option in Power Data.
- If you want to save the results as a file, select the Save to File checkbox.
- If you are saving to a file, you can specify the approximate maximum size of the output file in the Max to Save (in KB) field.
- Click View Results. Alternatively, click Reset to enter new values.
