Redwood: Create Demand Plans and Edit Demand Plan Options using a New User Experience

You can now use the Redwood guided process to create a new demand plan. The plan creation process is significantly streamlined to guide you at every step, helping you make informed choices as you configure the plan to fit your enterprise’s requirements. Additionally, you can also view and edit plan options for an existing Demand plan.

To create a demand plan from the Redwood Supply Chain Planning work area: 

  1. In the Supply Chain Planning work area, navigate to More ActionsPlans

The Plans page opens in a new web browser tab and displays a list of plans that you own or have permission to access. Multiple plan actions are available for each plan based on the plan type.

  1. Click Create Plan.

A guided process opens in a new browser tab, displaying Name, Type, and Description.

  1. Enter Name and Description and select Type as Demand Plan.

The expanded guided process displays default plan options applicable to a demand plan. The process consists of four steps: 

  • Plan definition 
  • Demand  
  • Access control 
  • Technical options 
  1. On the General tab, specify the Dimension Catalog, Measure Catalog, Exception Set, and Measure Context as needed.

Click the Scope tab to continue. 

  1. On the Scope tab, select Source System, Organization dimension Level, and Level Members for plan organizations. Then, select Hierarchy, Product dimension Level, and Level Members for plan items, if needed.

Click the Plan Horizons tab to continue. 

  1. On the Plan Horizons tab, select Planning Calendar and Planning Time Level, then specify Demand Plan Horizon Days. Use Demand History Display Days to define the time horizon for displaying historical measure data.

Click the Archive and Extract tab to continue.  

  1. On the Archive and Extract tab, select the Archive Options and Extract Options. For example, enable archiving for the plan and modify the measure catalog for archiving.

Click Continue to go to the Demand step.

  1. In the Demand step, you can select Forecasting Time Level for forecasting and add, remove, or edit forecasting profiles in the demand plan.

  1. To edit a forecasting profile in a demand plan, click the Edit icon next to the forecasting profile. The profile details open in edit mode. Review and update the settings as needed, then click Update to save your changes.

  1. To remove a forecasting profile from a demand plan, click the Delete icon next to the forecasting profile.
    Click the CTO Settings tab to continue.
  2. On the CTO Settings tab, update the details to create a Configure to Order type demand plan.

Click Continue to go to the Access control step.  

  1. In the Access control step, you can manage user access to the plan. By default, access is set to Public. To restrict access, you can configure the plan as Private and grant access only to specific users, either with limited or full access, using the set access type selection options. The plan will then be accessible only to the selected users.

Click Continue to go to the Technical options step.  

  1. In the Technical options step, you can set Demand Control parameters, Demand Parameter overrides, and Forecasting control parameters.  

Click Submit to create the demand plan.

A message is displayed upon successful plan creation. Close the browser tab after creating the plan.

The page is refreshed to display the Edit icon for the newly created plan.

  1. To edit the plan, click the right step or tab, then click Submit to save your changes.
  2. To review or analyze plan output as per the plan definition, you must run the plan. Once the plan run is complete, go to the Plans page and select Open Plan to view the demand plan in the Supply Chain Planning work area. 

Depending on your access level, you can view and edit options for an existing demand plan from the Plans page or an open plan.

To edit plan options for a demand plan in the Redwood Supply Chain Planning work area: 

  1. In the Supply Chain Planning work area, navigate to More ActionsPlans. The Plans page opens in a new web browser tab and displays list of plans you own or have access to. Available actions depend on the plan type.

  1. Use the search bar or filters to find your demand plan in the list. Select the plan row and click the Edit icon to view or edit plan options.  

  1. The Edit Plan Options page opens in a new browser tab. If you have edit access, you can update the plan definitions. If you have view only access, the page opens in view mode and you won't be able to make any changes.

  1. Review the plan definitions in the guided process and make changes as needed to meet your business requirements. When you're done, click Submit to save your changes. 

After the plan is configured and runs successfully, you can open it to review the output for further demand forecast analysis. 

  1. To open a plan for demand analysis, select the desired plan and click the ellipses icon in the Action column. Then, select Open Plan from the menu.

You can open various visualizations to review and analyze the demand plan output. 

  1. If needed, you can access the Edit plan options page for the currently opened plan. Click the ellipses icon to open the More Actions menu, then select View More. Under Plan Actions, click Edit Plan Options. The page will open in a new browser tab.

  1. You can open the Edit Plan Options page for a plan in multiple browser tabs simultaneously. However, it's the user’s responsibility to manage these tabs and open or close them as needed. 

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

The guided process page for creating demand plans and editing plan options always opens in a new web browser tab. Once you finish creating a new plan or editing an existing plan, you can close the web browser tab.

  • Edit Plan Options (MSC_EDIT_PLAN_OPTIONS_PRIV) 
  • View Plan Options (MSC_VIEW_PLAN_OPTIONS_PRIV)
