Redwood: View and Edit Asset Details

Manage your installed base assets more effectively with the enhanced Asset Information Management page, which now provides detailed asset information alongside search capabilities.

Search and Create Assets

Use the Asset Information Management page to quickly and easily search for assets using Oracle's smart search and filters. You can perform full-text searches for assets across numerous attributes including descriptive flex fields. In the search results, you can select Actions to view high-level details for the selected asset.

Drill down on an asset to access comprehensive asset details. High-level asset header information, including the asset number, corresponding item, and serial number, appears on the left side of the page as shown in the screenshot here. It remains visible while you view the Overview, Parts List, Notes, History, Fixed Assets, and Qualifications tabs. This section also provides a link to the associated asset hierarchy.

You can edit this asset header information by simply clicking the pencil icon and making your edits in the Asset header drawer, as shown in the screenshot here.

You can also create an asset directly from the Asset Information Management search page. Select Create Asset and enter the asset information.

Overview

The Overview tab displays detailed information about the asset including the asset number, description, key dates, location, meters, asset groups, supplier warranty, attachments, and additional information provided in the flex fields associated with the asset. You can edit the asset details, location, and additional information as well as add, unassign, reassign asset groups for the selected asset. You can also add, edit, and delete meters; record meter readings, and view and edit meter reading history.

Parts List

Use the Parts List tab to search, create, and view the parts list for the selected asset. The asset parts list helps you plan maintenance by defining the replacement items needed for the asset.

Notes

Use the Notes tab to search, create, update, and delete simple text-based notes for the selected asset. You can also mark a note as private, allowing only the creator to view or edit the details.

History

Use the History tab to view all transactions performed on an asset. You can search transactions by transaction type, asset transaction type, time period, data range, and asset group.

Fixed Assets

The Fixed Assets tab, shown in the screenshot below, displays the fixed assets that are associated with the selected installed base asset. Within this tab, you can also define a relationship between an installed base asset and one or more fixed assets. Each relationship has a valid start and end date range.

Qualifications

The Qualifications tab shows qualifications defined for the asset and enables you to add qualifications to an asset. Asset qualifications ensure that an asset meets specific criteria before it can be used for assigned work.

Customer Asset Information

For assets associated with a customer, you can view and edit Customer details provided in the Overview tab.

The Sales Order tab shows details of the last time an asset was sold to a customer. You can view sales order details such as sales order number, customer purchase date, registration date, in-service date, bill-to customer, and bill-to customer. You can also view sales order charges detail such as charge definition, priced quantity, product unit price.

The left side of the page also includes a link to More details, which provides additional customer asset-related information including key service dates, associated coverages such as service contracts and subscriptions, service requests, and work orders. From this page, you can create a service request, work order, add a note, as well as access the legacy Asset page, where you can view any associated leads and opportunities.

The Redwood Asset Information Management page provides comprehensive insights about your operational asset throughout its lifecycle in a simple and intuitive way. You easily view and update this information on-the-go to effectively and efficiently complete your work.

Steps to Enable and Configure

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

To enable this feature:

  1. Opt In - Use Smart Search to Search For and View Assets in the New Assets UI - enabled

Note: This Opt In will be obsolete in a future release

  1. Dev Profile - Enable Asset Details Redwood UI (ORA_MNT_ASSET_DETAILS_REDWOOD_ENABLED) - set to Yes

Note:

  1. Enabling this Dev profile disables the Manage Assets and Edit Asset pages and directs users to the new Asset Information Management Redwood UI for viewing and editing asset details

  2. To use Asset Information Management Smart Search:

    1. Enable the Oracle Search Extension Framework to create indexes, ingest predefined indexes, and manage search capabilities

    2. Routinely run the ESS job to run Bulk ingest to OSCS process to ingest asset updates from Manufacturing, Receiving, Inventory, Order Management, and FBDI

    3. Refer to Implementing Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management for further details.

Tips And Considerations

The following functionality isn't available in this release:

  • Copy asset
  • Split asset
  • Change an enterprise asset to a customer asset
  • Change a customer asset to an enterprise asset
  • Cost tab
  • Direct access to subscription, leads and opportunities information within Asset Information asset details UI (to access this information, use the link to More details on the Asset Information Management asset page)
  • Apps Composer support for the Asset Information Management UI
    • Currently, Apps Composer is only enabled for the Visual Builder tool

The Opt In feature "Use Smart Search to Search For and View Assets in the New Assets UI" will enable the Asset Information Management navigation in the Home page only. This Opt In feature will be obsolete in a future release.

To enable the "Asset Information Management" task in the Maintenance Management Landing page, use the Redwood profile "ORA_MNT_ASSET_DETAILS_REDWOOD_ENABLED".
