Redwood: Report Manufacturing Execution Operations Using a New User Experience

Execute work order operations using the enhanced Redwood user experience. Enables you to use additional operation transaction options when executing production with or without the workstation context.

With this new capability, operators can:

  • View the work order header, work order resource, and work order material attachments along with already supported work order operation and workstation attachments before and during execution.
  • Enter operation transaction descriptive flexfield values and transaction notes before submitting the operation transaction.
  • Scrap rejected work in progress quantities after a reject disposition result is received during quality inspection.
  • Perform reversal operation transactions to enter corrections.
  • Report transactions for supplier operations.
  • Resequence and report execution for resequencable work order operations.

The enhanced Redwood execution experience streamlines shop floor activities by enabling operators to perform a broader set of operation transactions within a modern, intuitive UI—whether or not they are using the workstation context. Access to all relevant attachments improves accuracy and reduces reliance on external systems and paper documentation. Inline entry of descriptive flexfields and notes ensures richer, contextualized data capture at the point of execution.

Support for scrapping with quality disposition, performing reversals, reporting supplier operation transactions, and resequencing of operations lets operators respond quickly to real-time production events without leaving the execution flow. Together, these capabilities increase execution efficiency, reduce errors, improve data integrity, and strengthen compliance with production and quality processes—all while providing a consistent Redwood experience for operators.

Steps to Enable and Configure

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Tips And Considerations

  • Once this feature's parent feature is enabled, the action Execute production at a workstation in the Work Execution work area changes to Production Execution.
  • Upon launching the Production Execution action, if you have workstations defined in your organization, then you can select and check in to a workstation, as usual.
Optionally, you can click Select Work Order Operation and view the list of work order operations available for execution.
  • If operators have been assigned workstations using the Production Supervision page, and operator assignment is enforced in Smart Operations Configurations, then operators can only check in to assigned workstations to execute production.
  • To make the Select Work Order Operation button always visible, set the Select Work Order Operation Button page property for the Select Workstation page to true in Visual Builder studio.
  • Use saved search to preselect the filter criteria when viewing the Select Work Order Operations page.
  • Connected equipment signals cannot be used to report progress when execution is performed without the context of workstations.
  • If there are mandatory operation transaction or serial attribute descriptive flexfields configured, then upon clicking on actions to complete, reject, or scrap the user is prompted to enter the descriptive flexfield values. If mandatory operation transaction or serial attribute descriptive flex fields are not configured, then the operator can select "Add Transaction Details" before clicking on Complete, Reject, or Scrap.
