Redwood: Pause and Resume Operations During Production Execution Without Workstations

Flexibility in production execution is increasingly vital for modern manufacturing environments, especially those that operate without predetermined workstations. With this new feature, operators can pause and resume work order operations even when not working in traditional, workstation-based setups.

Key capabilities include:

  • Operators can start, pause (with reason codes), and resume work order operations in flows that do not use workstations.
  • Operators can search for and resume in-progress operations that they had started directly from the work order operations selection page.
  • Accurately tracks and calculates run times and stop times, which helps calculate key shop floor performance and availability metrics.

This enhancement provides manufacturers with increased operational flexibility and better control over production execution. It helps with accurate tracking of operation duration and improved reporting of availability and performance metrics, supporting data-driven shop floor management.

Steps to enable and configure

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials ManagementNo Longer Optional From: Update 26C

This feature is a child of the opt-in required 25D feature "Execute Production Without Defining Workstations".

Tips and considerations

  • A valid reason code must be selected when pausing operations—supported codes are those mapped to “idle” or “down” statuses.
  • Only one active execution session is permitted for any operator–work order operation combination.
  • Performance and availability calculations now account for all pauses and are updated to distinguish between performance and availability losses based on the pause duration and reason.
