Track work order execution time for individual operators
Manufacturers need accurate data on the labor and equipment time spent on work order operations to support resource costing, productivity analysis, and traceability. With this update, Oracle Manufacturing enhances work order time tracking by using operator check-ins, operation start and stop time, and operator checkouts to calculate execution time. You can also configure how operators participate in production execution.
Key capabilities
- Track operator work execution time for work order operations at a workstation from the time operators start or join the execution until they stop or leave.
- Guide operators with distinct badges and colors that indicate their check-in and clock-in status.
- Configure whether operators can check in or check out other operators or only manage their own participation.
- Configure labor and equipment resource charging scopes to better align resource charges with actual participation.
Individual operator participation
With this feature enhancement, a new Smart Operations configuration, Check-In Other Operators, allows you to control whether operators can manage the participation of other operators. When this parameter is set to Not allowed, operators can manage only their own participation.
When an operator starts operation execution at a workstation, the operator is shown as clocked in. If there are any other operators already checked in to the workstation, they are also considered participating operators and are shown as clocked in.

If an operation is already in progress, operators can't check in without joining the active execution session. They must join the execution individually and can leave the session after completing their work without stopping the execution. The remaining operators can continue the execution uninterrupted.

Oracle Manufacturing tracks each operator's participation from the time they start or join the operation execution until they leave or stop participating. When the last participating operator stops the execution, the application calculates each operator's execution time based on their individual start or join time and stop or leave time, and charges labor resources accordingly.
Resource charging scope
Configure resource charging scope to align labor and equipment charges with actual participation in an operation. This provides accurate resource usage tracking, improves productivity analysis, and strengthens traceability by reflecting the time that each operator and equipment contributes to work order operation execution. The charging scope applies to all resources with the charge type set to Manual.
The different options for charging labor resources are as follows:
- Labor Resource Charging Scope
- Only checked-in operators matching operation resources: Charge only checked-in operators whose resource type matches a resource defined for the work order operation.
- Checked-in matched operators and unmatched operation resources: Charge matching checked-in operators and also charge operation resources that do not have a matching checked-in operator.
- All checked-in operators and unmatched operation resources: Charge every checked-in operator, including those whose resource type is not defined for the operation, and charge unmatched operation resources. This is the default option.
- All checked-in operators only: Charge every checked-in operator regardless of a matching operation resource, but do not charge operation resources without a matching checked-in operator.
- Don’t charge operators: Do not create labor resource charges for operators.

The different options for charging equipment resources are described below:
- Equipment Resource Charging Scope:
- Workstation equipment matching operation resources only: Charge only workstation equipment whose resource type matches an equipment resource defined for the operation.
- Workstation equipment and unmatched operation resources: Charge matching workstation equipment and also charge operation equipment resources without a matching workstation equipment. This is the default option.
- Don’t charge equipment: Do not create equipment resource charges for the operation.
Equipment resource charging scope
This update provides the following advantages:
- Improve labor and equipment resource costing accuracy for work order execution.
- Reduce ambiguity when multiple operators work together on the same operation or workstation.
- Strengthen controls by limiting whether operators can check in or check out others.
Steps to enable and configure
Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

A new Smart Operations configuration, Check-In Other Operators, controls whether operators can manage the participation of other operators. By default, this setting is Allowed.
When Check-In Other Operators is set to Allowed, operators can check in and check out other operators and can stop the execution for all participating operators in the session.
When Check-In Other Operators is set to Not Allowed, operators can manage only their own participation. They can't check in or check out other operators and can stop only their own participation without affecting the work execution for other operators.

- This feature is supported only when the operations are performed by an operator at a workstation.
