Review, Validate, and Post Sustainability Activities

Hello, and welcome to this demo on Oracle Sustainability Cloud on how to review, validate, and post activities to the sustainability ledger. Corporate sustainability reporting is becoming mandatory for organizations around the world. Many regulations require sustainability reports to be audited with the same level of rigor as financial auditing.

This is where Oracle Sustainability Cloud comes in. It offers you the capability of a sustainability ledger where validated and posted records serve as the source of truth to fulfill comprehensive reporting requirements. In this demo, I'll walk you through on how to validate a sustainability record and post that to a sustainability ledger. You will need to have the sustainability analyst or sustainability controller job role to perform the steps described in this demo. Let's get started with the demo.

I go to the Sustainability tab and click on the Sustainability Activities work area. I am now on the Sustainability Activities landing page, which shows a dashboard of activities that require attention. The validation errors such as missing emissions, missing measures appear on the y-axis. And the count of activities for each of the validation errors appear on the x-axis. The bar for each validation error is divided into segments of activity type. I can see one activity of type mobile combustion is missing measure. I click on the stack to see the activity that is missing measure.

Let's click on the activity number to see the validation errors that are present in the activity. I am now viewing the details of the activity I had clicked on. This activity is for activity type mobile combustion, where the energy source is aviation gasoline, and the vehicle type is aircraft. I can see the validation errors on top of the page, which is preventing the activity from being posted. To fix the validation errors, I click on the Edit button to edit the activity.

Let's scroll down to the measure section to enter the missing measures by clicking the Add Measure button. A side drawer opens where I can select quantity as the measure type, 100 as the measure value, and gallon as the unit of measure.

I click Add to add this measure to the activity. I can see a measure row has been inserted in the measures section. This activity is using the Calculation mode of using matched factors. In this mode, calculation should take place automatically upon saving the record if matching emission factors are found. I click Save to save the record.

I see an emission record is inserted in the emissions section, and emissions are calculated. Let's go to the Actions menu and select the validate action to check if all validation errors are resolved. The confirmation message displayed indicates the activity is validated with no warnings. I'm now good to post the activity.

I go to the Actions menu again and select Post to post activity to the sustainability ledger. The activity is now posted successfully. This concludes the demo. We just saw how you can validate a sustainability activity and resolve validation errors before posting the activity to the sustainability ledger. Thank you for watching.
