Explore the New Validation Rules in Visual Builder Studio for the Benefits Contact Page

Hello, and welcome to this 25B demonstration of Oracle Cloud Benefits Validation Rules for the Contact Page.

In this session, we’ll review the new feature, the business need it addresses, and how it works in the system, along with the key benefits it provides to both employees and administrators.

This new feature allow you to create simple or complex validation rules to ensure your employees are entering the correct data. Businesses need greater flexibility and control over the benefits self-service experience to improve clarity and drive employee engagement.

The new validation rules are designed to help streamline and optimize user experience across benefit pages. This enhancement provides greater flexibility and improved functionality for both employees and administrators. The new validation rules can be performed on the before you enroll quick action on the benefits landing page.

The verify people you’d like to cover task within the enrollments flow, the add or update dependents within the report a life event page and the people to cover within the benefits activity center. For this demonstration I will create a validation rule using the before you enroll quick action on the benefits landing page.

I will navigate to Me, and then benefits. Once the landing page opens I will select before you enroll under quick actions. I will then select settings and actions and Click on Edit page in visual builder studio.

Let’s start by creating a simple validation rule that requires the employee to enter a national identifier for the relationship types of spouse and child.

First verify you are in the express mode. And then click on the validate field values button which will take me to the validation page.

If you have not created any prior validation rules you will see this message.

I will click on the validation button and enter a label such as Relationship and NID Validation. I will Click on the Create. To add conditions to the validation rule, you can click in the region here or the edit button. I can determine if the rule applies to all or any of the conditions.

I can select from a number of different values, such as object context, field values and user. In this example the first condition will be based on relationship type so I will enter relationship for the create and edit fields. Verify you see contains in the list of values. And then I will add an S for spouse and then C for Child, these codes are from the contact lookup.

I will create the second condition based on Country and the person National Identifier. Change the contains to is null. I am not going to add any other conditions here so I will click on done.

In the message area I will enter as National Identifier is mandatory for the summary. And I will select error for the severity. And I will enter National Identifier is mandatory for spouse and children in the details. To test my validation rule, I will click on the preview button, and this will open up a new browser window. In my preview page I will click on the plus icon to create a new contact.

I will verify that the national identifier is visible remember you must have all fields visible to use in a validation rule. We’ll go up to relationship type and select child, at the top of the page I can see my error message.

The employee cannot submit this new contact until they have added the national identifier.

Now let’s make this a more complex validation rule by excluding children who are under who are under the age of six months.

I will go back to the visual builder studio edit page, and I will click on edit in my conditions region. And I will select the Use Advanced Expressions button. I will click on the code button.

And I will then paste in my JAVA Script code provided by oracle this can be found in the 25B What’s New feature listing. I will Click on Save. I can now see my code has been added to the conditions area. I will Click on the preview which will open up new browser window. Once the page opens I click on the plus icon to add a new contact.

I will select the relationship type of child. And I will enter a date of birth of that is greater than 6 months. I will tab out, and I will see our error message at the top of the page. Now let’s change our date of birth to less then 6 months, and the error message has been removed.

If I am happy with my testing I will return to the visual builder studio edit page.

And I will click on the publish button and then I will see the changes moved to the contact page.

Here are the delivered advanced validation rules. The require national identifier for specific relationship type and age, which I just demonstrated for you.

Require national identifier for specific relationship type. Require date of birth for specific relationship type. Require home address for specific relationship type. Require phone number for the contact marked as emergency contact and Require gender and date of birth for a specific legislation and only for benefit eligible contacts. This concludes this demonstration. Thank you for watching.
