Redwood: Accelerate Structure Building and Editing
Welcome to the demo of the update 25C feature Redwood Accelerate Structure Building and Editing in SCM Product Lifecycle Management. In this release, you can create a new structure and modify the structure header information. Once the structure is created, you can build a single-level structure using the grid or utilizing the drag-and-drop feature from the clipboard or spotlight.
You can modify component-level attributes, delete components, perform replacements, manage reference designators, and substitute components in the same UI. This will allow you to efficiently develop and modify structure for a quicker go-to-market process.
Now, let us begin the demo. Here, I've already navigated to the Product Management Search. To prepare for the creation and building of my structure, I'm first going to search for the items and add it to the clipboard since I plan on reusing these items as components.
This is the item that I plan to reuse. Click on it and then add it to the clipboard. If you go to the Navigator and clipboard, you can see that it has been added. I'm going to pin the Navigator. I'm also going to search for a structure and add it to the spotlight since I plan to reuse some or all of its component in my new structure.
There are two ways to add the structure to the spotlight. You can click on this item here. Click on the Ellipsis icon and add it to the spotlight. Or you can navigate into the structure. Click on the ellipsis here and then add it to the spotlight. You can see that all of the components from the structure has been added here.
Now, let's go back to the search and search for the items that I'm going to manage the structure for. Now that I've found the item, I'm going to navigate into the item. Click on the Structures.
And create and modify the Structure header information and then add the components. To create a new structure, click on the Ellipsis icon and select Create Structure.
In the side panel drawer, you can create a new structure, or you can create from existing structure or create from common. In this demo, I'll create a new primary structure by selecting Primary as the new structure name and add a description.
You can also modify the structure header DFFs. The Apply action will create the new structure in memory. Now, click on Save to save the creation of the structure.
Now, click on Select and Add icon to start adding components. In this item picker, you can search for items that you've already created.
In the search results, you can select multiple items to add as components. The counter in the Add button and the Show Selected will show you the number of items that you have selected.
You can go back to the results and search for other items. In Show Selected, you can see the number of items that you have picked. Now, click on Add.
I'm also going to add the few items that I had previously put in my clipboard and in the spotlight. I'm going to grab the item and drop it into the grid. I'm also going to do the same thing from the spotlight.
You can now select one or all of the items and then drop it there. Or you can select just a few of them. So I'm going to select all of them and then drop it here. Click on Save.
I'm going to unpin the Navigator so I have more real estate. You can now modify the structure of each of the components. Depending on the view that you've selected, the attributes can be modified by clicking on the cell. For example, double-click to modify the quantity.
You can also modify the DFFs. Click on Update. You can now either click on the different tabs in the side panel to modify the reference designators and substitute components, or you can navigate to the next component to modify. In this demo, I'm going to modify the reference designator. Click on here.
The behavior of Quantity Related and Aligned Quantity is same as was in the classic user interface. If you had configured a range indicator, you can also use the range here. Then click on Apply.
You can see that the table below has been updated. In order to modify the description, click on the Pencil icon. And then click on this Check icon to confirm the information.
Next, I'm going to go to the Substitutes to add a substitute for this particular component. Select it. You can also modify the attributes for the Substitute Components and also the DFFs. Click on Update. You can now close the side panel.
Click on Save to save all of the changes that you've made. You can continue to build your structure following the same steps. In this release, you can build a single-level structure. This concludes the demo for Redwood Accelerate Structure Building and Editing. Thank you.
