The Default Project for Advisor Applications

Siebel Advisor is shipped with a default project, which has a default contents list. Preconfiguration, the Get Advice buttons in the Siebel application are directed to this default project.

You can use the default project and contents list as a high-level index from which your application references a number of projects and pagesets. For example, you may use the default project to contain only the default contents list, which acts as a root list that links to other projects and contents lists. The default project files are located on the Web server where Interactive Designer is installed.

When you implement Siebel Advisor, you can choose among several options for using the default project and new projects and pagesets and the default project:

• Keep the Get Advice Buttons mapped to the default project, and change the default project contents list to reference the new projects and/or pagesets. For more information, see About Populating the Default Contents List.
• Map the Get Advice button to a new project and contents list. For more information, see Referencing a Different Project and Contents List.
• Leave Get Advice button and default project as is. Use Siebel Tools to configure the application and create new buttons that call new projects. For more information, see Invoking the ShowCDA Method from a Button.

About Populating the Default Contents List

When you create a new project or pagesets you need to:

• Update the contents list of the project to contain the pagesets in that project.
• Deploy the project.
• Add a link from the Default Project's contents list to either the new project or new pagesets in the project.
• Deploy the modified DefaultProject.

Referencing a Different Project and Contents List

You can reference a different project and contents list from the Get Advice button by editing the button in Siebel Tools.

To do this, you should have a thorough understanding of how to configure Siebel applications using Siebel Tools.

To reference a different project and contents list

1. Change the Project value user property on the Applet containing the button to the name of the project you want to use.

   The property to change is Method|ShowCDA|Parameter 2. For examples of these properties, see Step 2 in Passing in Project, Pageset, and Dynamic Default Information.

2. Delete the Pageset and Dyndefs values or change to values applicable to the new project.
