About Online and Offline Server Components

Setting server components online or offline is a run-time administrative task for a server component on a running Siebel Server.

Setting an online component to offline does the following:

• Allows existing component tasks to run to completion (running tasks are not killed).
• Stops any new tasks from starting.
• If the Siebel Server is stopped and restarted, space is allocated for the server component in shared memory but no tasks are started for the component.

Setting an offline component to online does the following:

• Allows tasks for the component to run.
