Installing and Configuring MobileSys MX Server

One-way wireless messaging with Siebel Wireless Messaging requires that the MobileSys MX wireless messaging server be installed and configured to connect with the Siebel Server.

Versions of MobileSys MX supporting Microsoft Windows 2000, Sun Solaris, and IBM AIX platforms are included in the ThirdParty directory of the Windows Server Ancillary Programs CD-ROM from Siebel Systems.

For specific information on supported operating systems and versions, refer to Siebel System Requirements and Supported Platforms for your Siebel products, and refer to the release notes provided by MobileSys.

For instructions for installing MobileSys MX, refer to MobileSys MX Getting Started Guide and MobileSys MX Reference Manual on the Siebel eBusiness Third-Party Bookshelf.

NOTE:  The installation documentation for MobileSys MX assumes that you are connecting directly to network operators to send messages. If you will send messages through the MobileSys Network instead, visit http://siebel.mobilesys.net for alternate installation instructions. These connection options are described in Installing and Configuring Siebel Wireless Messaging.

MobileSys MX may be installed on the same server that hosts the Siebel Server, or on its own server. Siebel Communications Server sends XML messages to MobileSys MX over HTTP using the wireless messaging communications driver.

A service node must be defined within MobileSys MX to support each network operator and message type. The service node definition is part of the MobileSys MX configuration file.

NOTE:  If you experience difficulties with the installation, configuration, or operation of the MobileSys MX wireless messaging engine, contact Siebel Technical Support immediately. Siebel Technical Support will work with MobileSys to resolve relevant issues.
