O

object compiler

A module of Siebel Tools that allows a developer to create aBsrf file from the current set of object definitions in a local repository. This file can be executed by a Siebel application.

object type

A named structure from which object definitions of the same type can be created. An object type has a predefined set of properties. The object definitions created from it have values for each of these properties (default or user-specified). Object types can have parent and child object types that form a hierarchical tree structure that is visible in Object Explorer.

occurrence, Siebel Marketing

A Siebel Marketing program can be rerun periodically according to a schedule. Each execution of a program (or stage or campaign) is tracked as a single occurrence.

ODP

Overdraft protection.

offline mode

In the Siebel Analytics Server Administration Tool, a mode in which you can edit a repository that is not loaded into the Siebel Analytics Server and therefore no users are connected to the repository.

one-to-many catalog

In Siebel eAuction, a catalog in which only owners and administrators can post auction items. See also many-to-many catalog.

one-to-many extension table

An extension table whose rows are the detail rows of a one-to-many relationship with master rows in a base table. See also extension table.

one-to-many relationship

A relationship between two kinds of entities in which one of the first kind corresponds to one or more of the second kind. For example, a purchase order has one or more line items. Entity relationship diagrams use symbols to indicate one-to-one and one-to-many relationships between database tables or logical entities.

one-to-one extension table

An extension table that contains exactly one row for each base table row. This is the standard kind of extension table. See also extension table.

one-to-one relationship

A relationship between two kinds of entities in which one of the first kind corresponds to one of the second kind—for example, an account has one account manager.

online mode

In the Siebel Analytics Server Administration Tool, a mode in which you can edit a repository while it is available for query operations. Online mode also allows user session monitoring for users connected to the subject areas in the repository.

open enrollment period

The one or two month period (often in October) set aside by a group in which this period all group members choose from insurance options and choose their benefits.

open model

A model that can include elements or attributes not declared explicitly in the content model. These additional tags can come from the same namespace or from a different namespace.

operation conflict

A conflict in which one database transaction attempts to update a row while another attempts to delete it.

opportunity

An opportunity is a potential revenue-producing event related to one or more companies or individuals.

optimal schedule

The longer the optimization algorithm runs, the closer the Optimization Engine comes producing a schedule meeting all constraints, minimizing downtime and costs, and maximizing efficiency. Note that the optimization algorithm can be the same for both feasible and optimal schedules; the difference is the amount of time the optimization is allowed to run.

Optimizer (Optimization Engine)

A component of Siebel Scheduling that refines an existing schedule for a service region, based on hard and soft constraints and a cost function. The output of the Optimizer is the assignment of specific field service engineers to service activities on specific dates and times.

optimizer horizon

The period of time, in days, for which the Optimization Engine optimizes the schedule for a specific service region. This period is expressed either as an absolute start and end date or as an offset start and end date. This time period must fall within the dispatcher horizon Typically, this period covers days 0 to 7 (starting from today to a week from today). This time period must fall within the dispatcher horizon. See also dispatcher horizon.

optimizer period

The period of time, starting from now, that the Optimization Engine optimizes. This time period must fall within the optimization horizon, but may be a subset of that time period.

organization

A attribute that limits the visibility of data to part of a company.

organizational visibility

Provides the user with access to records within a given organization.

outbound integration

The process of making data managed by a Siebel application accessible by an external application.
