Associating Opportunities with Accounts
Accounts are a source of business for your company. An opportunity is a potential revenue-generating event and is another type of information that you can use to manage your accounts within Siebel Sales Handheld.
To add an opportunity to an account
- Navigate to the Accounts screen.
- From the Show drop-down list, select My Accounts.
- In the My Accounts list, select the account to which the opportunity will be associated.
- From the Show drop-down list, choose Opportunities.
- In the Account Opportunities view, tap the Opportunities list to select it, and then tap the New Record button.
- In the Opportunities list, complete the necessary fields for the new record.
The Account field is automatically populated with the name of the selected account. Sales stage selections are based on the sales methods used by your organization.
An opportunity is defined as a potential revenue-generating event. An opportunity is usually associated with an account and one or more contacts, products, activities, and quotes.
Examples of opportunities are:
- At a trade show, a company representative expresses interest in purchasing a product.
- When called by a telesales representative, a contact indicates interest in contracting maintenance services.
- In a conversation with an existing client, the client expresses an interest in upgrading to the newest product model.
Opportunity-related information is recorded and tracked in the views of the Opportunities screen. You access these views to complete the following tasks.
- My Opportunities. Enter and track information about new opportunities that may include the associated account, sales stage and anticipated revenue.
- My Team's Opportunities. View opportunities managed by members of your team.
- More Info. Update opportunities through the sales cycle from creation to closure.
- Quotes. Generate quotes based on opportunities. For more information, see Developing Quotes.
- Contacts, Products and Activities. Associate business professionals, product information and tasks that must be accomplished to your opportunities.
