Siebel eAuction Guide > Auction Properties > Bidding Examples — Bid Timestamp Option >
Bidding Scenario for Bid Timestamp Option 3
This example uses the same auction as the examples for Options 1 and 2. Here, the items are auctioned using
eAuc:BidTimeTieBreakOption
3 (TSO3).The bidding for this auction is shown in the following tables ordered by first bid, second bid, third bid, and so on. The first part of Table 25 shows the user's bid; the second part of the table shows the result of that bid.
Bid Summary: Mary is the first bidder in the auction. She enters a Max Bid Amount (AutoBid) for $10 and selects one item. Mary is currently winning one item.
Table 26 lists the results from the second bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Mary is outbid by Don's $20 Max Bid for both items. Her bid is raised to $10, and Don's bid is set to $11, according to the Max Bid rules.
Table 27 lists the results from the third bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Mary changes her Max Bid to $20 for one item. Because this auction uses Timestamp Option 3, she does not get a bidding advantage, and this bid is placed with a new timestamp. In order to win, Mary needs to exceed, rather than match, Don's bid.
Table 28 lists the results from the fourth bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Sarah outbids Don with a $25 Max Bid to win both items.
Table 29 lists the results from the fifth bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Don changes his Max Bid to $30 for one item. He wins one item, while Sarah is still winning one item.
Table 30 lists the results from the sixth bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Sarah's $30 Max Bid for two items is placed with her prior bid's timestamp, which allows her to match Don's $30 bid. However, Sarah wins only one item because Don's bid carries an earlier timestamp. To win both items in the auction, Sarah must enter a Max Bid of more than $30.
Auction Results Summary: At the end of the auction, Don and Sarah win one item each at $30.
