Importing and Exporting Policy Data

This section describes three utilities than can be used to import and export policy data from the database.

PolicyIX

The Policy Propagation Import/Export (policyIX.bat|sh) utility provides XML-based import and export of policy data. It also can be used to export SSM configuration data, but does not support SSM configuration import.

Step-by-step instructions for using policyIX are located in the policyIX section of Import/Export Utilities in the Administration Reference.

The primary uses of policyIX are:

Policyloader

Policyloader.bat|sh is a deprecated utility that has limited use for importing policies and configurations using a set policy data files — text files containing policy data using a syntax required by the database.

Step-by-step instructions for using policyloader are located in the Policyexporter section of Import/Export Utilities in the Administration Reference.

The primary uses of policyloader are importing policies that have been exported using policyexporter and policies that are provided with OES sample applications.

Samples of policy data files are located in BEA_HOME\ales32-admin\examples\policy\alsb_sample_policy\ssmconfig and BEA_HOME\ales32-admin\examples\policy\alsb_sample_policy\ssmconfig.

Policyexporter

Policyexporter.bat|sh is a deprecated utility that supports exports of policy data to a set of policy data files.

Step-by-step instructions for using this tool are located in the Policyexporter section of Import/Export Utilities in the Administration Reference.

Policyexporter will export all OES database objects — it is not possible to limit the data exported. Its primary use of is to move all OES objects from one database to another.
