Oracle Support for Third-Party Products Reaching End-of-Life

Note: Always check vendors’ Web sites for end-of-life (EOL) policies and announcements.

This section provides information about Oracle support for the following third-party products that are at end-of-life or approaching end-of-life:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 End-of-Support Announcement

Oracle stopped supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 on December 31, 2007. Red Hat ended full support on April 30, 2006 and deployment support on June 30, 2007.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 End-of-Support Announcement

Oracle stopped supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 on April 30, 2006. The last Oracle product releases to provide support for Red Hat Linux 2.1 were Oracle JRockit 7.0 for WebLogic Platform 7.0 SP6 and Oracle JRockit JDK 1.4.2 for WebLogic Platform 8.1 SP5.

Oracle JRockit JDK 1.4.2 includes support for new releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux so that customers may upgrade their Red Hat products. Customers running WebLogic Platform 7.0 may upgrade to 7.0 SP7, which has adopted to Oracle JRockit JDK 1.4.2.

Windows 2000 End-of-Support Announcement

Oracle stopped supporting Windows 2000 on December 31, 2007. Microsoft announced the end of mainstream support for Windows 2000 on June 30, 2005.

Sun Java 2 SDK 1.4.2 End-of-Life Announcement

Sun Microsystems has announced that J2SE 1.4.2 has begun the Sun End of Life process.

After the General Availability (GA) of the next Java version, Java SE 7, this Java version will no longer be supported by Sun.

After the EOL date, Oracle JRockit JDK 1.4.2 will continue to be supported by Oracle on a best-effort basis. However, lack of support from Sun may limit Oracle's ability to resolve certain SDK-related issues. This will affect all Oracle customers running WebLogic Platform 7.0 and WebLogic Platform 8.1 as well as other products based on J2SE 1.4.2.

Oracle will provide an upgrade path for affected customers in good time before the EOL.

Sun Java 2 SDK 1.4.1 End-of-Life Announcement

Sun Microsystems no longer supports J2SE 1.4.1.

Oracle JRockit JDK 8.1—based on Sun J2SE 1.4.1—will continue to be supported by Oracle on a best-effort basis. However, lack of support from Sun may limit Oracle’s ability to resolve certain SDK-related issues.

Oracle recommends the following:

Sun Java 2 SDK 1.3.1 End-of-Life Announcement

Sun Microsystems no longer supports J2SE 1.3.1 on Windows and Linux.

Oracle JRockit JDK 7.0-based on Sun J2SE 1.3.1-will continue to be supported by Oracle on a best-effort basis. However, lack of support from Sun may limit Oracle's ability to resolve certain SDK-related issues.

After the EOL date, Oracle JRockit JDK 7.0—based on Sun J2SE 1.3.1—will continue to be supported by Oracle on a best-effort basis. However, lack of support from Sun might limit Oracle’s ability to resolve certain SDK-related issues.

Oracle recommends that WebLogic Platform 7.0 customers concerned about the limitations in support for J2SE 1.3.1 may:

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.0 on Itanium End-of-Support Announcement

Oracle stopped supporting SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.0 on Itanium on December 31, 2006. The last Oracle product release to provide support for SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.0 on Itanium will be Oracle JRockit JDK 1.4.2 R26.4. SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.0 on x86 will continue to be supported until a separate End-of-Support announcement is made.

Oracle JRockit JDK 1.4.2 and Oracle JRockit JDK 5.0 includes support for new releases of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server on Itanium so that customers may upgrade their SuSE products.

This announcement does not affect customers of WebLogic Platform, since it has never supported SuSE Linux Enterprise 8.0 on Itanium.

Red Flag Advanced Server 4.1 on Itanium End-of-Support Announcement

Oracle will stop supporting Red Flag Advanced Server 4.1 on Itanium on December 31, 2006. The last Oracle product release to provide support for Red Flag Advanced Server 4.1 on Itanium will be Oracle JRockit JDK 1.4.2 R26.4. Red Flag Advanced Server 4.1 on x86 will continue to be supported until a separate End-of-Support announcement is made.

Oracle JRockit JDK 5.0 includes support for new releases of Red Flag Advanced Server on Itanium so that customers may upgrade their Red Flag products.

This announcement does not affect customers of Oracle WebLogic Platform, since it has never supported Red Flag Advanced Server 4.1 on Itanium.
