Complete the following basic steps to prepare your network and host computers for deployment:
Download the most up-to-date documentation from the Oracle Technology Network in the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10g Release 3 (10.3.0.1) documentation set. Read the release notes for additional information on compatibility issues, known problems, and workarounds that might affect how you proceed with your deployment.
Retrieve the Configuration Worksheets for Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10.3.0.1 you completed during your previous install, or organize the information you need for the upgrade process by completing a new worksheet, available in the Oracle Technology Network in the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10g Release 3 (10.3.0.1) documentation set.
Provision host computers for your deployment and install prerequisite software. For details, see Software Requirements.
The following sections list the software requirements for Oracle WebCenter Collaboration.
This section lists additional requirements such as portal and web browser support and requirements for plug-ins.

Databases:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2005 SP2 (32- and 64-bit in default or failover cluster configuration)
Oracle 9i Database (9.2.0.7) in default or Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) configuration
Oracle Database 10g (10.1.0.3) or Oracle Database 10gR2 (10.2.0.x and above) in default or Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) configuration
Oracle 11g (11.1.0.6 and above) in default or Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) configuration
On Oracle Database 11g, customers must add the following parameter to the bottom of the init$ORACLE_SID.ora file: _optimizer_group_by_placement=false

If you are upgrading Oracle Database from 10.1.x to 10.2.x or Microsoft SQL Server from 2000 to 2005, you should perform this upgrade before upgrading Oracle WebCenter Collaboration.Virtualization Systems:
