Upgrading to version 9.2 involves some substantial changes, particularly if you're upgrading from version 8.1. In particular, version 9.2 incorporates standard and open source technologies that were not used in version 8.1. Note that version 9.2 releases of Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal incorporate technologies that began to appear in version 9.0 of WebLogic Server.

Upgrading WebLogic Application Environments: Introduction describes the procedures to upgrade your application environment to WebLogic 9.2. This includes applications, WebLogic domains, and any application data associated with the domain.
This release includes several upgrade-related tools. These tools are each aimed at making upgrade easier for a different part of your application.

Choose the documentation for upgrading from the model you've used in the past.
EJBs built without WebLogic Workshop will be upgraded in the course of upgrading a WebLogic Server domain with the WebLogic Upgrade Wizard.
EJBs built with WebLogic Workshop are upgraded by using the Workshop for WebLogic upgrade tools and the content in Upgrading Enterprise JavaBeans.
Page flows
Page flows are upgraded by the upgrade tools available with Workshop for WebLogic. See Upgrading Page Flows for information on changes between the version 8.1 and 9.2 releases.

Inventory of Upgrade Documentation in this Release
Each of the version 9.2 technology areas provides detailed content on upgrade considerations within those areas. The following links provide access to main topic areas within each technology area.
WebLogic Server
Most content describes upgrade of application environments — that is, domains, external resources, and applications not built with WebLogic Workshop.
Content is generally divided between that which describes how to upgrade the WebLogic Portal product, and that which describes how to upgrade applications built with the previous version.
Content describes the tools provided with the IDE for upgrading version 8.1 applications. Much of the content, however, describes changes that occur during upgrade, including workarounds where available.
