Novell SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 7 on IBM zSeries/S390 with 7.0 SP1

Provides full support for WebLogic Server and run-time support for WebLogic Workshop, WebLogic Integration, and WebLogic Portal. See below for Design and Development Tools support.

Known Issues

Workaround

BEA WebLogic Server uses its own JSSE implementation to handle SSL communication. However, the implementation does not work properly if you use IBM's JSSE implementation as the Java extension.

Make sure that you remove ibmjsse.jar from the jre/lib/ext directory of the SDK installation directory from which WebLogic Server is run.

Download and Installation Instructions

WebLogic Platform and WebLogic Server 7.0 SP1 support Novell SUSE LINUX 7.0 for IBM zSeries/S390 with the IBM JDK 1.3.1 Service Refresh 3. The IBM SDK for this operating system is not bundled with your WebLogic Platform software. You must download and install it separately before installing 7.0 SP1.

This section provides instructions for the following procedures:

Downloading and Installing the IBM SDK

The SDK required for the Novell SUSE LINUX 7.0 for IBM zSeries/S390 platform is IBM SDK 1.3.1 SR3. To obtain this SDK, complete the following procedure:

    A list of available developer kits is displayed.

  1. Select the development kit for Linux 31-bit zSeries (S/390) 1.3.1 SR3.
  2. Register and accept the license agreement.
  3. The Downloads page for the IBM Developer Kit for Linux, Java 2 Technology Edition is displayed.

  4. Follow the instructions provided on the download page to download and install the Developer Kit.
  5. Add the bin directory of the newly installed SDK to the beginning of your PATH variable.

Downloading and Installing 7.0 SP1

Complete the following procedure:

  1. Download the Novell SUSE LINUX installer for 7.0 SP1 from the following site:

  3. Run the installer:

Modify Linux Environment Settings for WebLogic Integration

Change the Linux-specific settings in your setenv.sh file:

  1. In a text editor, open the file $BEA_HOME/weblogic700/integration/setenv.sh.
  2. Change the Linux section to the following:
