Application Connection with an Integration Server

Integration can be achieved by connecting an application through an integration server that provides an information bus or a hub and spoke architecture to tie disparate applications together. The benefit of using an integration server is that it reduces the number of physical connections.

Figure 7 illustrates how each application connects only one time, through an adapter, to the integration server. The integration server also provides a reliable integration infrastructure that is successfully implemented in a large and critical deployment.
