Adding Social Sharing URLs to Email Treatments


When editing email treatments, you can use the Social Sharing URLs functionality to define a hyperlink and associate it with one or more social network icons, for example, Facebook© or Twitter© icons, which are added to the email treatment. Customers who are targeted for the email campaign can then click the relevant icon directly from the email offer to share the hyperlink on their social networks.

NOTE:  The functionality described in this topic requires that you install Siebel CRM Release 8.1.1.10 or later, or 8.2.2.4 or later. For information, see the applicable Siebel Maintenance Release Guide on My Oracle Support.

To make a social sharing URL available in CKEditor for inclusion in email treatments, you must first define the social sharing URL. The following procedure describes how to create a social sharing URL and then add the URL to an email treatment. For information on configuring the social networking sites that are available for selection in CKEditor when using social sharing URLs, see Siebel Marketing Installation and Administration Guide.

This task is a step in Process of Working with Email Treatments.

To create a social sharing URL and add it to an email treatment

  1. Create the social sharing URLs that you want to make available for selection in CKEditor as follows:
    1. Navigate to the Offers screen, then the Email Treatments view.
    2. In the Email Treatments list, click the treatment name.
    3. Click the Advanced view tab, then click the Social Sharing URLs link bar.
    4. Create a new record, entering values similar to those shown in the following table, then save the record.

      Name

      Enter the name you want to assign the social sharing URL. This name is displayed in the Items menu in the email treatment editor.

      URL

      Enter the URL that you want to allow customers to share on their social networks.

  2. Insert the social sharing URL you have created into an email treatment template as follows:
    1. Click the Edit Email view tab.
    2. Select a template to edit.

      The template appears in the workspace.

    3. From the Categories menu in CKEditor, choose Social URLs.
    4. From the Items menu, select the social sharing URL you created, then click the Insert arrow.

      The Social Sharing dialog box is displayed.

    5. In the Social Sharing dialog box, specify values similar to those shown in the following table.

      Title

      Enter the text that is displayed for the hyperlink when it is displayed on customers' social networks.

      URL

      The social sharing URL is displayed allowing you to modify it, if required.

    6. Select the social communities on which you want to allow recipients of the email treatment to share the hyperlink by clicking the appropriate check boxes, then clicking OK.

      The social community icons are embedded in the email treatment.
