What's New in Siebel Object Types Reference, Version 8.1

Table 1 lists changes described in this version of the documentation to support release Version 8.1 of the software.

Siebel Object Types

Removed all Search objects. For version 8.0 and later, Search configuration is by way of the Search Administration views and XML files in the client application, not using Siebel Tools.

The object types include:

Search Custom Result Field Locale
Search Definition - all objects
Search Engine--all objects
Search Filter Field
Search Index
Search Index Field Map
Search Pick View
Search Result Field
Search Table
Search Visibility View

Business Component

  • Added a note to the Dirty Reads property advising not to change the default setting.
  • Added a caution to the Log Changes property advising that remote data integrity issues may occur if this property is disabled.

Business Service

Added information about registering business services in Siebel Tools as an application user property before invoking the service to prevent Service Not Found errors.

Field
Single Value Field

  • Described how the Immediate Post Changes property works.
  • In the Field Data Type section, added a new field type: DTYPE_UTCDATETIME.

Multi Value Field
Single Value Field

Removed the Use Default Sensitivity property for the Field, Multi Value Field, and Single Value Fie object types. For version 8.0 and later, case sensitivity is configured using the CaseInsensitive property in the Local section of the Siebel Tools configuration file (tools.cfg).

Additional Changes

This version of the documentation also contains the following general changes.

  • For version 8.1 and later, the reporting module for Siebel Reports by default is BI Publisher. However, the following object types are still available for use with your Actuate reports:

  • Properties and property descriptions were added, removed, or revised for object types as needed.
