Siebel Installation Guide for Microsoft Windows > Additional Postinstallation and Configuration Tasks > Additional Tasks for the Siebel Web Server Extension and the Web Server > Restarting the Web ServerYou must restart the Web server (or Web servers) after you have finished installing Siebel CRM version 8.1.1.11 or version 8.2.2.4 as a patch installation (migration installation) on the computers where you installed Siebel Enterprise Server or Siebel Web Server Extension (SWSE). The restart is required because the Web server must be able to create a directory to contain static files required for the current version of the Siebel application (corresponding to the latest Siebel CRM release). The Failure to restart the Web server after installing the current release for Siebel Enterprise Server and for the SWSE means that the directories described above will not be created on the Web server, which causes the Siebel login screens to stop responding.
