Common NIS+ Namespace Error Messages
This chapter describes how to back up and restore an NIS+ namespace.
The NIS+ backup and restore capabilities provide a quick and easy method of preserving and reinstalling your NIS+ namespace. These features can also be used to simplify creation of new replica servers and reduce the time it takes to bring them online.
These tasks are performed by two commands:
nisbackup. Backs up NIS+ directory objects.
nisrestore. Restores NIS+ directory objects.
Note - NIS+ might not be supported in a future release. Tools to aid the migration from NIS+ to LDAP are available as of the Solaris 9 release. For more information, see System Administration Guide: Naming and Directory Services (DNS, NIS, and LDAP) and visit NIS+ End-of-Feature (EOF) Announcement FAQ.
