This publication introduces Sun Java™ System Identity Manager and provides instructions for installing the product.

Who Should Use This Book

This Sun Java™ System Identity Manager Quick Start Guide was designed for engineers and administrators who have experience installing and evaluating enterprise products. These individuals should be familiar with the resources, business processes, and databases to be managed within the enterprise.

How to Find Information in this Guide

Chapter 1, "Welcome" — Introduces Identity Manager and provides general instructions for installing the Identity Manager on an Apache Tomcat 5.0 application server with a MySQL 5.0 repository and index database.

Chapter 2, "Before You Begin" — Describes requirements for installing Identity Manager — including memory requirements, software requirements, and prerequisites.

Chapter 3, "Installing and Configuring Identity Manager" — provides general instructions for installing and configuring an evaluation copy of Identity Manager.

Chapter 4, "Quick Start Scenario" — Provides a guided demonstration of some of Identity Manager’s most powerful features, which includes basic provisioning, end-user self service, and advanced features.
