About Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4

This is a maintenance update for compressed archive installations of Directory Proxy Server 5.2. This update can be performed on Directory Proxy Server 5.2 only. This update cannot be performed on versions of Directory Proxy Server prior to Directory Proxy Server 5.2.

These release notes describe issues related to the compressed archive of Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4. New features and enhancements, known issues and limitations, and other information related to Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4 are described in the main Directory Proxy Server Release Notes.

General Installation Information

In this section <SERVER ROOT> is the directory where the Directory Proxy Server product has been installed.

To Upgrade to the Compressed Archive of Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4 on Unix Platforms

  1. Close all console windows. If a console is open when the installation script is run, the script cannot upgrade the console binaries.
  2. Unpack the compressed archive, patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4--<platform>.tar.gz, as follows:
  3. # mkdir MyDirectory

    # cd MyDirectory

    # cp patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4--<platform>.tar.gz .

    # gunzip patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4--<platform>.tar.gz

    # tar xvf patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4--<platform>.tar

  4. As the owner of <SERVER ROOT>, set the correct permissions to run the installation script.
  5. # chmod +x dps_install.sh

  6. Run the installation script.
  7. - To upgrade Directory Proxy Server and Administration Server, run this command:

    # sh dps_install.sh <SERVER ROOT> UPGRADE_ADMIN

    - To upgrade Directory Proxy Server only, run this command:

    # sh dps_install.sh <SERVER ROOT> NOT_UPGRADE_ADMIN

    The Directory Proxy Server is restarted by the installation script.

To Upgrade to the Compressed Archive of Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4 on Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server SP 4

  1. Become the administrator or a member of the administrator group.
  2. Close all console windows. If a console is open when the installation script is run, the script cannot upgrade the console binaries.
  3. Close the event viewer.
  4. Unpack the compressed archive, patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4--WINNT.zip, as follows:
  5. # mkdir <MyDirectory>

    # cd <MyDirectory>

    # copy patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4--WINNT.zip .

    # unzip patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4--WINNT.zip

  6. Run the installation script:
  7. - To upgrade Directory Proxy Server and Administration Server, run this command:

    # dps_install.bat <SERVER ROOT> <ADMIN ID> <ADMIN PASSWORD> UPGRADE_ADMIN

    - To upgrade Directory Proxy Server only, run this command:

    # dps_install.bat <SERVER ROOT> <ADMIN ID> <ADMIN PASSWORD> NOT_UPGRADE_ADMIN

    The Directory Proxy Server is restarted by the installation script.

  8. Reboot the system.

To Upgrade to the Compressed Archive of Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4 in a Localized Environment

  1. Upgrade the English version of the compressed archive for your operating system, as described in the previous procedures.
  2. Extract the patch file for your locale to the /tmp directory or another directory of your choice. The patch file is named patchzip-dps-5.2Patch4-<locale>.zip.
  3. As the owner of <SERVER ROOT> on Unix platforms, or as the Administrator on Windows platforms, unzip the patch file by using the -o option to overwrite existing files. For example:


Known Issues and Limitations

This section describes the known issues and limitations with the compressed archive of Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4. For a list of the known issues and limitations in the Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4 product, refer to the main Directory Proxy Server Release Notes.

Uninstallation Fails for the Compressed Archive on Solaris 9 (6227309)

After installation of the patchzip on Solaris 9, the uninstallation fails.

Unable to start Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4 (patchzip) on Windows After Enabling SSL(6373803)

After enabling SSL, it is not possible to start the patchzip version of Directory Proxy Server 5.2 2005Q4 on Windows. This problem caused because nss3.dll is not updated when the patchzip is applied on Windows.

Workaround

Install nss3.dll manually as follows:

  1. Unzip nsbasesys.zip under a temporary directory.
  2. The following dll are extracted:

    • libnspr4.dll
    • libplc4.dll
    • libplds4.dll
    • nsldap32v50.dll
    • nsldappr32v50.dl
    • nsldapssl32v50.dll
    • nss3.dll
    • sasl32.dll
    • ssl3.dll

2. Overwrite the dll files in <serverroot>\bin\ps\server\bin with the new dll files extracted in step 1.

3. Start Directory Proxy Server.
