Service Registry is an ebXML Registry: a federated registry and repository that manages all types of electronic content described by standard and extensible metadata. It provides federated, secure information management of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and other content and metadata. It supports the ebXML Registry 3.0 and UDDI 3.0 registry protocols.
This section provides information related to new features, functionality, and supported products in Service Registry 3.1 Update 1.
Service Registry 3.1 Update 1 provides support for the use of an Oracle database as well as for the use of the default database, Java DB. For details on configuring Service Registry to use an Oracle database and on configuring an Oracle database for use with Service Registry, see the Service Registry 3.1 Update 1 Administration Guide.
The Web Console for Service Registry 3.1 Update 1 allows you to export repository content to a zip file. For details, see the Service Registry 3.1 Update 1 User’s Guide.
By default, Service Registry is deployed to Sun Java System Application Server 8.2. It is possible, however, to deploy it to Application Server 9.1. For details, see the Service Registry 3.1 Update 1 Administration Guide.
To obtain accessibility features that have been released since the publishing of this media, consult Section 508 product assessments available from Sun upon request to determine which versions are best suited for deploying accessible solutions. Updated versions of applications can be found at http://sun.com/software/javaenterprisesystem/get.html. For information on Sun's commitment to accessibility, visit http://sun.com/access.
Service Registry includes an implementation of version 1.0 of the Java API for XML Registries (JAXR) specification. JAXR 1.0 was written to support the UDDI and ebXML Registry 2.0 specifications. The implementation of JAXR in Service Registry includes nonstandard extensions to JAXR 1.0 that support the ebXML Registry 3.0 specifications.
This section lists the requirements that must be met before installing Service Registry 3.1 Update 1.
For the most part, the requirements for Service Registry are the same as the requirements for Sun Java System Application Server. The disk space requirements in Table 1–1 are in addition to the disk space requirements for Application Server.
