ShowMe TV 1.2.1 Software

ShowMe TV is a television system for local- and wide-area networks. You can use it to view and broadcast live or prerecorded video programs on your network. Here are some examples of how you can use ShowMe TV:

Removing Old Packages

If you have ShowMe TV 1.1 or 1.2 installed, you need to remove it before installing ShowMe TV 1.2.1.

  1. To remove ShowMe TV 1.1, type:


    # pkgrm SUNWsmUt1 SUNWstv SUNWstvs
    

If you have an earlier release of ShowMe TV 1.2 installed, you need to remove it before installing any new software packages.

  1. To remove ShowMe TV 1.2, type:


    # pkgrm SUNWsmtvt SUNWsmtvu SUNWsmtvr SUNWsmtvh
    

Installing the ShowMe TV 1.2.1 Software

To install the ShowMe TV software, follow these steps:

  1. Start CDE or OpenWindows.

  2. Insert the Supplement CD into your CD-ROM drive.

    The File Manager window is displayed.

  3. Open a command window and become superuser using the su command and superuser password.

  4. Enter the swmtool command at the # prompt:


    # /usr/sbin/swmtool
    

    The Admintool:Software window is displayed.

  5. Select Add from the Edit Menu.

    The Admintool:Set Source Media window is displayed.

  6. Type:


    # cd /cdrom/cdrom0/Product
    

    The Admintool:Add Software window is displayed.

  7. In the Admintool:Add Software window, select ShowMe TV 1.2.1.

  8. Click Add.

    The installation process should take a few minutes.

  9. Quit Admintool.

  1. To view the desired PostScript manual, type the following at the command line:


    # imagetool filename
    

  1. To print the manual, either use the File menu in Image Tool or type the following at the command line:


    # lp filename
    

  1. To view the manuals in HTML format, use a web browser and type the following in the address field:


    file://cdrom/cdrom0/Docs/directory
    

If you have copied the HTML files to a different directory, type in the path to that directory. Open the table of contents to determine which file to open.
